In the first season of The Voice Teens in 2017, Kamp Kawayan’s Isabela Vinzon ended as the runner-up to grand winner Jona Soquite of Team Sarah.
Will this year be a lucky one for rock star coach Bamboo Manalac? Interestingly, all three Kamp Kawayan finalists in The Voice Teens this year are “returnees” from The Voice Kids, namely Heart Salvador, Kate Campo, and Rock Opong.
Heart Salvador of Muntinlupa City
In 2016, Heart Salvador joined The Voice Kids when she was 10. Now 13, she returned to compete at The Voice Teens Season 2.
Salvador was also in Kamp Kawayan back then.
In this current season of The Voice Teens, she sang “Somebody You Love” for her blind audition and had the four coaches turn for her. Bamboo and Sarah Geronimo turned almost simultaneously, then Lea Salonga and apl.de.ap followed.
During the Battles, she sang and beat Claire Siggaoat of Pangasinan after their duet of the song “When the Party's Over.”
Bamboo picked her to be in his Top Three after she gave her rendition of the song “Skinny Heart” during the Knockouts.
Kate Campo of Angono, Rizal
Kate Campo of Angono, Rizal was also with Kamp Kawayan, during her stint in The Voice Kids in 2015. Bamboo turned for her and automatically qualified to be part of the rocker coach's team. Campo was 8, back then.
In this year’s The Voice Teens, Kate made an awesome return singing “Pusong Ligaw” in the Blind Auditions. Interestingly, all the coaches, except for Bamboo, turned for her. She would then initially choose Sarah as her coach.
Fate had its way of bringing Kate and Coach Bamboo back together. After Kate lost at the Battles against Jaylloyd Garche when they sang “Istorya,” it was Coach Bamboo, who took her back to his fold.
The Small Girl with a Big Comeback from Rizal made it in the Knockouts. She sang “Chasing Pavements,” which made her enter Kamp Kawayan’s Top 3.
Rock Opong of Iloilo City
Rock Opong, 13, is also an alumnus of The Voice Kids in 2015. He wanted to be part of Kamp Kawayan, but he chose Coach Sarah at the time.
After failing to make it the finals, Rock didn't stop from dreaming and pursuing his passion. He was featured as the Little Acoustic Singer in the Little Big Shots before he joined Asia's Got Talent in 2019.
The Unstoppable Singer-Songwriter of Iloilo City is determined to win this time in The Voice Teens. In his blind audition, he sang “Sa Ngalan ng Pag-ibig.” Both Bamboo and apl.de.ap battled over him, but this time, he chose the former.
In the Battles, he defeated the Determinadong Balladeer from Zamboanga, Darvic Villarin. They sang a duet of the song “Higher Love.”
During the Knockouts, Rock did soar high in his interpretation of the song, “Dancing on My Own.”
Would these second chances for Kamp Kawayan’s hopefuls produce a Grand Winner in The Voice Teens this year?
