COACH BAMBOO

Francisco Gaudencio Lope Belardo Mañalac was born on March 21, 1976 in Quezon City. When he was 10 years old, his family migrated to San Francisco, California where he spent the rest of his childhood. He was named after a combination of his grandfathers' names and his mother gave him the nickname "Bamboo" when he was still young.

For 4 years, he became a vocalist for the critically acclaimed Filipino rock band, Rivermaya. But during the band’s international tour in 1998, Bamboo decided to leave the group and stay with his family in the U.S.

Come the year 2003, he again became the front man and formed his own alternative rock band, Bamboo. They won numerous awards and garnered high praises from fans and critics alike, until 8 years later, in 2011, they decided to call it quits and disbanded. From then on, Bamboo pursued a solo career and released his first solo album in November of the same year.

This 2020, he will also be one of the coaches in the second season of The Voice Teens Philippines.
