The Voice Kids Season 2
- Elha Nympha, Grand Champion
Elha’s performance of Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love”
during the Blind Auditions for the second season of The Voice Kids
made coach Bamboo Mañalac turn his chair for her, making her the last member to join Kamp Kawayan. Though Bamboo admits Elha’s song was not perfect, he knew that he got himself a strong singer. And Elha proved her coach right when week after week she got better in her performances. Her semi-finals piece “You’ll Never Walk Alone”
rendered coach Lea Salonga speechless for a few seconds, while her moving rendition of Martin Nievera’s “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin”
during the finals night impelled Bamboo to make an appeal to the public to trust in Elha’s singing prowess. But it’s her effortless performance of Mariah Carey’s “Emotions,”
complete with the song’s whistle tone, that really secured Elha the title of Grand Champion. It showcased the extent of her vocal range and got her 42.16% of the total votes.
Since her win on The Voice Kids,
Elha has been busy with mall tours with season 1’s Grand Champion Lyca Gairanod. She has also been guesting in several Kapamilya shows like It’s Showtime, Umagang Kay Ganda
, and Gandang Gabi Vice
to name a few. But despite her busy schedule, Elha has successfully graduated from Elementary last March.
- Reynan Dal-Anay, Runner-up
Reynan’s performance of Lea Salonga’s “Tagumpay Natin Lahat”
during the Blind Auditions of The Voice Kids Season 2
earned him the honor of being the second contestant to make all three coaches turn their chairs. And with the guidance of his chosen coach, Lea Salonga, Reynan was able to deliver a poignant rendition of Asin’s “Itanong Mo Sa Mga Bata”
that got coach Bamboo Mañalac praising his ability to tell a story through his songs. During the finals weekend, Reynan performed “Magkaisa,” “Toyang,”
and “Babalik Ka Rin” which he sang with Gary Valenciano.
After winning 1st Runner-up, Reynan has been busy performing with his fellow The Voice Kids Season 2
finalists. He has also guested in several events such as the I Love OPM Grand Destination night
and was one of the performers at the APEC welcome dinner that showcased Filipino talent. Reynan was also nominated for three major awards in the recently concluded Wish 107.5 Music Awards and was the star at the 2016 Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon. But the highlight would probably be his trip to Singapore where he was invited for a meet and greet by his fan club Reynatics Singapore.
- Esang de Torres, 3rd Place
Esang joined the ranks of the elite three-chair-turners when she performed an amazing rendition of “Home”
from the musical “The Wiz”
(link to page) during The Voice Kids Season 2 Blind Auditions. Her semi-finals rendering of “Salamat Salamat, Musika"
further proved how this adorable little girl from Tondo packs a very powerful voice. And up to the finals, Esang never let up. She sang “Somewhere”
from the musical West Side Story, ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,”
and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars
, all of which showcased her clarity and perfect diction.
Esang has been very blessed after winning 3rd Place on The Voice Kids.
She has been busy with the launch of her solo album and was even able to stage a successful birthday concert at the Skydome last February. Her biggest break yet occurred when she became a part of the Manila run of “Les Miserables” last April where she was one of the alternates for Little Cosette
And her professional theater career continues as she flies to Singapore to reprise her role in the Asian tour production of “Les Miserables.”
After singing just 2 lines of Sia’s “Chandelier”
during the Blind Auditions, Sassa was already able to wow coaches Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo Mañalac enough for them to turn their chairs for her, followed closely by coach Lea Salonga. Her three-chair-turner performance became an internet hit, turning viral even in Vietnam. Her powerful, textured voice became even more apparent when she perfected Beyonce’s mega hit “If I Were A Boy”
on the semi-finals. And throughout the grand finals, Sassa continued to wow with her rendition of “Ikaw”
with the Megastar Sharon Cuneta, “Starships,”
and “Next In Line.”
She went on to win 4th Place in the competition.
Sassa has been busy with The Voice Kids
concert tour, as well as with numerous TV guestings together with her fellow finalists. She was also nominated in the recent Wish 107.5 Music Awards. Sassa’s also very active on YouTube, regularly uploading her cover songs on an account she shares with her brother Bryant.
