With his unmistakable charm, good looks, eloquence, and innate sense of humor, it isn’t surprising that Robi Domingo is one of the most sought-after and well-liked presenters of his generation. And this 2023, he’s poised to enthrall us again as one of the newest hosts of The Voice Kids Season 5 alongside Bianca Gonzalez-Intal.
But before we see him take on a new role, let us look back first on his remarkable TV journey in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!
Those who have been following his career would surely know that his springboard to stardom was through joining Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus in 2008, in which he was eventually hailed as the 2nd Big Placer. The “True Blue Atenista” might have fallen short in his bid to becoming the Big Winner, but a slew of projects have been incessantly pouring onto him in the past 15 years.
He tried his hand in acting through the series that he starred in, but he apparently shines more as a presenter. Robi landed his first regular hosting stint in the ABS-CBN music channel MYX, wherein he debuted as a VJ in 2008 and went on for years. He was then tapped to be one of the main hosts of the teen music variety show, Shout Out! in 2010.
From being one of the dashing and talented lads of ASAP’s very own boyband Giggerboys, he went on to become one of its hosts since 2011 till the present. It was also in that said year when he began his hosting gig in PBB, starting off with the Unlimited edition and succeeded by Teen Edition 4 (2012), All-In (2014), 737 (2015), Lucky 7 (2016), Otso (2018), Connect (2020), and Kumunity Season 10 (2021).
Robi was then tapped to be one of the backstage hosts of The Voice of the Philippines in 2013 and The Voice Kids Philippines. In 2014, he joined Iza Calzado and Matteo Guidicelli in hosting the reality show The Biggest Loser: Doubles (2014), in which he also served as a challenge master and the social media correspondent.
He was then chosen to be one of the presenters of the reality dance competition Dance Kids in 2015 and of the reality entertainment contest I Can Do That in 2017.
In 2018, Robi was joined by Kim Chiu and Melai Cantiveros in following the stories and journeys of Filipino dreamers in the Kapamilya program Star Hunt: The Grand Audition Show. It was also on that same year when he was tapped to be one of the hosts of the reality talent competition The Kids Choice, in which a panel of celebrity child stars, dubbed “The Just Kids League,” would be the ones to critique the talent presented by family contestants called “Fam-bato”.
After hosting a string of reality programs, he went on to become a travel show presenter in the variety-reality program Aja! Aja! Tayo Sa Jeju, which featured his fun, exciting, and educational adventures in Jeju Island, South Korea with Donny Pangilinan, Kristel Fulgar, and Shine Kuk. Last year, he was hired to be the host of Idol Philippines Season 2.
Aside from hosting entertainment programs, he also hosted the news and current affairs show Umagang Kay Ganda (2015-2020), educational show Math-Dali (2016-present), sports program University Town (2016-2020), iWant travel show Unlisted (2019), and online game show Game KNB? (2020-present). He also continues to host iWant ASAP, the online spin-off of the long-running variety show ASAP Natin ‘To.
And beginning this February 25 and 26, we’re going to see Robi take on his latest role as the new presenter of The Voice Kids Season 5! Catch it on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
