Here's how grand champion Shane Bernabe will use her P1M cash prize from The Voice Kids

From being that young aspiring singer who immediately captivated us with her impressive rendition of “Dukha” by Aegis in the blind auditions, not to mention shocking us when she chose to be part of Coach Bamboo’s Kamp Kawayan instead of her ultimate idol KZ Tandingan’s Team Supreme, Shane Bernabe went on to emerge as the grand champion of The Voice Kids Season 5.

Up to the two-night Final Showdown, the Kiddie Rock Popstar proved that she indeed deserved the spot given to her by her mentor through her powerful performances. On the first night, she impressed everyone with her version of “Sirena” by Gloc-9 and Ebe Dancel. Her and Coach Bamboo’s duet of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” also struck a chord in the spectators because of how poignant and fascinating it was, which was one of the rare times that we saw her “soft side,” as how host Robi Domingo put it.

On the second night, she was able to display her versatility and incredible artistry when she belted out her winning performance “Sino Ang Baliw” during her Power Ballad act, which earned praises from the coaches and left her Coach Bamboo speechless.

While her fellow young artists Xai Martinez and Rai Fernandez also did great in their respective performances, it was still Shane who stood out and shone the brightest in the end. She garnered the highest percentage of votes amounting to 51.05%, while Rai got 40.65% and Xai earned 8.30%.

Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com had the chance to talk to Shane, who’s the second kid grand champion from Kamp Kawayan, after the grand finals. When asked how she prepared for the grand finals, Shane revealed that she actually adhered to her three Ps, which stands for “pray, practice, and puso sa pagkanta.” Most importantly, she didn’t forget to seek the guidance of God in her every performance, as well as surrendered each one of it to Him. Thus, even though the competition among her, Xai, and Rai was really tough, she did not encounter any challenge and just focused on practicing and expressing her gratitude to her supporters.

When asked what’s the first thing she would do after the grand finals, the talented kiddo said that she will make sure to show her appreciation to her fans, as well as in thanking God for allowing her to give the most precious gift she could offer her mommy as the latter celebrates her birthday soon.

With regards to what she’s going to do with the whopping one million cash prize, she disclosed that she would save it first for the construction of their house and to also help her family with their finances. And speaking of family, it is to them to whom she dedicates her victory, as well as to God and to all the people who supported her in this journey.

“Ang mensahe ko po sa mga sumusuporta po at nagmamahal po sa akin ay thank you, thank you po sa pag-vote n’yo po sa akin at pagtitiwala n’yo po sa akin,” she enthused.

Congratulations on your win, Shane! Keep on shining!
