The Voice Kids DigiTV: Siblings Honey and John Centeno show their makulit sides

In the past decade of The Voice of the Philippines, it was rare for us to see siblings or relatives to join the same season. And it once again happened this year as siblings Josh David and Honey Centeno from Binangonan, Rizal didn’t only perform consecutively, but both of them were able to pass the Blind Auditions, too. However, they got into different teams.

Their family consider the lockdown during the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic a blessing in disguise for them as incessant blessings poured into them during those challenging times. According to their mom, they were able to earn money and gain exposures in various platforms by posting videos of them singing online. Aside from being guested in various TV programs, an American family also reached out to them to extend financial assistance to their family after the heartwarming performance of the four kids helped improve her situation while confined at a hospital. They didn’t only have a stable internet connection, but also now lives in a more comfortable and spacious abode.

This is actually not the first time for John to get pitted with a sibling in singing contests as he used to compete with their older brother in the past.

Honey was the first one to take on the stage and charmed the three coaches with her sweet-sounding performance of “Salamat, Salamat Musika” that made all them in turn. In the end, even though their father said that Coach Martin Nievera is his favorite singer, she still chose to be part of Coach KZ Tandingan’s “Team Supreme.”

It was her Kuya John David who was able to join “Mar-Team” as the Concert King got impressed by his rendition of Rockstar’s “Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin.” sUpon learning that he and Honey are siblings, they requested them to sing together, to which they obliged by performing Adie and Janine Berdin’s “Mahika” that further wowed them.

During their The Voice Kids DigiTV appearance, the two, who imparted that their grandparents Lolo Ben and Lola Susan also inspire them to join the competition, totally got us entertained with their kakulitan. They totally amused us with their subtle savagery towards each other as soon as their blind auditions were over, wherein John David advised her to better next time, while Honey implied that he must be the one to do it as only one turned for him.

John David went first and uttered: “Congratulations, Honey. Tatlo umikot sa’yo. Sana all.” Honey, meanwhile, retorted: Congratulations kay David dahil magaling pa rin siya kahit isa lang umikot.”

While they only get a little nervous about one another’s performance, the siblings revealed to hosts Jeremy G and Elha Nympha that it was actually their mother who was more anxious than them. Their adorable asaran continued when they were asked for their congratulatory message to one another.

The two also gamely took on the hosts challenge for them to dance to BINI’s “Na Na Na.”
