Rafa Tan shares mom Roselle Nava’s advice before The Battle Round performance

Apart from his natural charm and very good performance during the Battle Rounds of The Voice Kids Season 5, young artist Rafa Tan also impressed Coach Martin Nievera for his being a great team player during their rehearsals. And that probably what made the Concert King adore him more as he was the one chosen to move on to the next level of the competition.

He and fellow MarTeam members Jamer Cabacaba and Kai Marmeto indeed stirred us with their heartfelt rendition of the classic OPM hit “Pag-ibig” by APO Hiking Society, but it was still the “Sentimental Diva’s Son” who reigned in the end.

In his The Voice Kids DigiTV guesting, Rafa recounted how he helped his team mates during their practice, which he did by giving them cues for their starting points and coming to their rescue whenever they forgot the lyrics of their part.

When asked regarding the mentoring style of Coach Martin, he imparted, “He’s really playful. Like during the bonding, he treated us to, I think, a breakfast. He did not eat. All he did there [was] he entertained us. He was talking with us, he was laughing with us, he was making jokes to us.” Host Elha Nympha seconded it by relating how the Concert King brandish the same disposition in ASAP Natin ‘To.

Rafa also couldn’t help but be sad as he talked about his closeness with Jamer and Kai, which was formed during their rehearsals. It was actually inevitable since they’re waiting in the same room and practicing the same song together, as well as going through the same experience, same hard part, and same coach together. Thus, he was really heartbroken to see them go or leave and he kept on hugging them as they parted ways.

Hosts Elha and Lorraine Galvez also shared a little about their experiences during their respective stints in The Voice Philippines, as well as cheered him up by telling him that it’s just okay and part of the game.

Since his mom is Sentimental Diva Roselle Nava, the 10-year-old young artist disclosed that she told her to just enjoy the performance and really feel it more, as well as to do his best.

See how Rafa will thrive in the next rounds of the competitions by not missing an episode of The Voice Kids Season 5, Saturdays and Sundays, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
