Equipped with her Mommy Rita’s unwavering love and support, The Voice Kids Season 5 young artist Akiesha Singh was able to capture a lot of hearts with her sweet and soothing voice as she sang the OPM classic “Ugoy ng Duyan” – including Coach Bamboo who quickly turned his red chair for her during her blind audition.
But apart from singing, the 12-year-old aspiring singer from Baliwag, Bulacan also has a talent in cooking, which she’s able to develop as she helps her Filipina mother and Indian father in their Indian food business. In her interview with host Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, she disclosed that her specialty is samosa, which is a deep-fried pastry with a spiced filling equivalent to the Pinoy delicacy empanada.
During her The Voice Kids DigiTV guesting, Akiesha was able to further discuss Indian culture and tradition, by sharing two things that she finds interesting or unique about it. According to her, it’s noticeable how almost every Indian food is spicy and how she observed that every Indian home have beds in their living rooms.
When asked by hosts Elha Nympha and Jeremy G regarding what she wants to learn from Coach Bamboo, she said that it would be how to improve and put style into her performance, as well as how to effectively tell a story through a song.
Aside from enjoying the experience, Elha, who’s a loud and proud Kamp Kawayan alumna and The Voice Kids Season 2 grand champion also related her takeaways from the Rock Royalty. She conveyed, “Be confident, sing with your heart, and huwag kang mag-hold back. Kasi ako no’n, parang medyo tine-technical ko siya; ‘yong mga songs ko, lagi akong play safe. And sabi ni Coach Bamboo, not all the time perfect ang kanta. Sometimes, ‘yong mga messy mo na ginagawa sa isang song, ‘yon pa ang nagpapa-perfect sa performance mo.”
