Camille Mataga reveals another reason on choosing Coach Martin Nievera

The efforts of her taxi driver-father in training her even after a hard and exhausting day at work indeed paid off as Camille Mataga passed the blind auditions of The Voice Kids Season 5.

Just like most of her fellow aspirants, the 12-year-old belter from Valenzuela City also joined the competition to help improve the life of her family. Besides, this is also perhaps her way of showing his appreciation to her dad who firmly believes in the potential that he sees in her.

In her interview with host Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, Camille imparted one of her father’s reminders to her with regards to taking good care of her voice, which is to refrain from eating any sweets.

She took on the stage with the classic OPM love song “Ngayon At Kailanman” by Basil Valdez, which made both Martin Nievera and Bamboo turn their red chairs for her. As the two coaches battled it out to get her favor, it was still the advice of her father, who’s among the audiences at that time, to go to MarTeam and wear the black M40D cap.

As she appeared in the The Voice Kids DigiTV, host Jeremy commenced their lighthearted conversation by telling her how impressed he was of her vocal control just on the first line of her performance. She then asked her how she felt when Coach Martin tagged her as his assistant coach, to which she retorted “sobrang saya.

Camille then talked about how her dad has been working as a taxi driver for around 10 years already and reiterated how he would still rehearse her despite already being exhausted from driving around the metro.

She also revealed another reason why she chose to be part of MarTeam. According to her, aside from perceiving him as the coach who could help her with her The Voice Kids journey, she also confessed that both she and her dad actually idolize the Concert King and would even choose to sing his songs during their rehearsals at home.

Aside from influencing her to hone her singing skills and to choose Coach Martin, it’s also her dad who encouraged her to learn Indonesian and Japanese songs upon seeing videos on Facebook so that people would have something different to expect from her.

Since she mentioned not being allowed to eat anything sweets, Camille conveyed how she would wish to eat chocolate or ice cream, specifically the cookies n’ cream flavor, if ever she will be given the opportunity.

And ultimately, when quizzed by hosts Jeremy and Elha Nympha about how she feels now that she sees herself performing on the The Voice Kids stage, she enthusiastically expressed how really happy she is.
