We were all delighted upon learning the awesome news that real-life relatives Maja Salvador and Janella Salvador are going to headline the controversial gothic drama series The Killer Bride.
Well, it’s not the first time that kin starred in a single project, but knowing how brilliantly talented both these actresses are, we couldn’t help then but be excited to see them share the same screen as the vengeful Camila Dela Torre and her ever-loyal and dependable foster daughter-turned-accomplice Emma Bonaobra, respectively.
As the well-loved primetime series approaches its thrilling finale this Friday, let’s relive the five moments when this equally-beautiful and talented mag-tita astounded us with their laudable and remarkable ‘acting’ showdown through this Friday 5 feature.
The heart-breaking howl
Throughout her more than a decade in the local entertainment scene, Maja has continuously astonished us with her performances in every role and project that she does – and depicting Camila in The Killer Bride is not an exception.
Right off the bat, she’s able to immediately compel and draw us into the narrative as we found ourselves heartbroken upon the sight of Camila wailing and cursing those who wronged her as she painfully watched her baby daughter Vida being engulfed by fire and she had nothing to do. This powerful scene trended online and garnered praises to the versatile actress.
The shocking revelation
As Janella was able to make us believe that her character Emma was being possessed by Camila, we were all absolutely shaken when it was finally exposed that the latter had been very much alive all along and everything she did was all pretend and a part of a ‘huge show’ that she and her foster mom had staged.
In this scene, we initially thought that Camila was in her body again as she wandered towards the chapel ruins that served as their secret hideout and meeting place and as terror and shock were evident on her face upon seeing Camila. But as her fright got replaced with a sly smirk, and as Camila declared that it was only the beginning of a more challenging work, we already knew that were in for another terrific treat.
The tear-jerking reunion
The great scheme they designed not only fooled and affected the innocent townsfolk of Las Espadas and Camila’s family, but most especially the woman who has been her mother figure ever since she was still a kid – Manay Ichu (Malou de Guzman).
As everyone found out that Camila was alive after she decided to finally reveal herself, Manay Ichu wasn’t able to conceal on the first time that they talked again for years how disappointed and hurt she was for being one of the victims of her former charge’s deception and how she even used an innocent person just to execute her spiteful plans.
Seeing the infuriated reaction of her nanny, Camila was deeply apologetic for what she did and for inflicting pain to one of the people who genuinely loved her all her life.
The emotional breakdown
As Emma tried to persuade Camila for them to stop with their mission and just leave Las Espadas because of the repercussions of their vengeful acts, the latter became truly emotional as she told her how the weight of the hardships she had endured through the years finally come crashing down on her.
Our hearts broke as well in this scene as she told her that even though they were already able to figure out the person who made her life miserable and uncover the whole truth, that still didn’t brought her the peace she had been yearning for her heart and mind. Just when she thought that she would not be affected anymore by everything that’s going to transpire, Camila had proven herself wrong.
The terrifying revenge
We definitely found ourselves in extreme shock with the unexpected death of Camila, more so when she brought herself back to life by possessing , this time for real, Emma.
As she asked her foster daughter to help her execute her revenge against Alice (Lara Quigaman), Emma heeded to her request for her to use her body. Since their last mission is going to be more crucial and dangerous, Vito (Geoff Eigenmann) advised her to be careful, to which Camila retorted by telling how their being too human failed them to topple down Alice.
Although we’ve already seen how excellent Janella is in rendering Camila, we’re more astounded with how she portrayed her possessed character this time.
Which ‘acting’ moment of Janella and Maja are you going to remember the most?
