From capturing our hearts through her teeny-bopper roles in the previous projects she did throughout her eight years in the local entertainment scene, Janella Salvador absolutely astounded us with her compelling portrayal as the beautiful, feisty, and enigmatic Emma Bonaobra in the well-loved gothic drama The Killer Bride.
Now that we’re on its final week, let’s revisit her laudable and remarkable ‘acting’ moments in the series through this Kapamilya Toplist.
In its early parts, she undeniably amazed us with how she’s able to make us all believe that she was indeed being possessed by her adoptive mom Camila (Maja Salvador), who she’d been helping to find out the truth on and to seek justice for the crime she was accused of and the alleged demise of her daughter Vida.
Right from her arrival in the fictitious town of Las Espadas, Emma already had this air of mystery in her as she simply introduced herself as a young and budding mortician who aspires to work in the Dako Paroon funeral parlor owned by Camila’s former nanny Manay Ichu (Malou de Guzman). With her resemblance to Camila and weird antics, everyone was truly convinced that she’s possibly her reincarnation or that she’s truly possessed by her.
As she spotlessly took on the persona of Camila in front of the people to whom they knew they could get information or leads from regarding her case and to whom they wanted to exact vengeance with, she never failed to send chills down our spines with her every haunting glare, mischievous smirk, and tingling voice that indicated her shift to Camila.
We’re able to feel and see that eerie side of her when she stormed into the Dela Torre mansion, when she confronted Luna (Alexa Ilacad) how her dad Vito (Geoff Eigenmann) used to be so in love with her (as Camila), when she threatened Juan Felipe (James Blanco) that she would let the whole Las Espadas know how he maltreats his wife, and when she made Luciano (Cris Villanueva) remember his heated conversation with their patriarch Don Jacobo (Eddie Gutierrez).
After making us believe as well that the Camila she saw in an abandoned structure was already her ghost, it was later on revealed that everything was just role playing when they met in the chapel ruins that served as their hideout.
From the spooky feels she brought, Janella then amazed us with the dramatic chops she showcased in the latter part of the narrative, such as in the heart-rending scenes she shared with Camila and Elias (Joshua Garcia). And just recently, she truly left us all awestruck with how her character Emma expressed her wrath over Lara Quigaman’s Alice as she accused her of being the real culprit behind Camila’s unbelievable and gruesome death.
For sure, Janella’s going to amaze us furthermore in the remaining episodes of The Killer Bride so you better stay tuned!
