Kapamilya Spotlight: Sue Ramirez’s staggering rise to becoming a sought-after leading lady

In the past 12 years that she’s been in the industry, Sue Ramirez indeed impressed us with how she worked her way up from being a teen star playing supporting roles in teleseryes and movies, to becoming one of the most sought-after leading ladies of her generation.

And just a few months after her last teleserye The Broken Marriage Vow ended, wherein she absolutely astounded us with her portrayal of the seductress Lexy Lucero – her most challenging yet most notable portrayal to date – she is now poised to astound us anew in the upcoming ABS-CBN action-drama series The Iron Heart. But before that, let’s look back first on some of her remarkable teleserye stints through the years in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!

She had her acting debut via the remake of the classic 90’s soap opera Mula Sa Puso in 2011, through which she’s able to immediately wow us with her dramatic chops as Nicole Matias, the daughter of veteran actress Eula Valdes’ character. It was succeeded by her antagonistic role in the well-loved afternoon drama Angelito: Batang Ama as Rona Dimaano, and went on to reprise it in its sequel Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto the following year.

She also became part of the horror fiction series Oka2kat, the stand-alone sequel to the iconic 1997 television series !Oka Tokat in 2012; then of the family drama Annaliza  in 2013, which was the incarnation of the 80’s soap opera of the same title.

The year 2015 was truly a hectic one for Sue as she appeared in various Kapamilya shows. She had a special participation in the afternoon series Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita as the young Cecilia Macaraig (played by Vina Morales), scored a supporting role in All Of Me, and became the thirdweel to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in the remake of the classic romance drama Pangako Sa ‘Yo. She further astonished us with her versatility as an actress through her stints in the “Pagkakasala ng Ama” episode of Ipaglaban Mo, in Wansapanataym Presents “Remote ni Eric,” and in the “Entablado” and “Eye Glasses” episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya.

In 2016, she starred anew in Ipaglaban Mo via the “Kidnap” episode and in MMK via the “Paru-paro” episode. For the second time, she became the third-party to a popular loveteam through Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil in the well-loved romance series Dolce Amore.

After depicting the young Margaret Divinagracia (Connie Reyes) in My Dear Heart, the talented actress impressed us with her flair in doing stunts and fight scenes as she played a she-wolf named Catleya in the 2017 fantasy-action series La Luna Sangre.

The 26-year-old actress finally landed her first-ever lead protagonist role in a teleserye through Hanggang Saan in 2018, wherein she played Anna Michelle Lamoste, the love interest of Arjo Atayde’s character. She then went on to star in Ipaglaban Mo again through the “Sakal” episode, wherein she depicted a battered and sexually-abused wife, and had a guest appearance in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as the vivacious Marie Espinosa.

Even the pandemic failed to stop Sue from showcasing her talent and doing what she’s passionate about as she starred in the 2020 action-drama series A Soldier’s Heart, wherein she enthralled us with her performance as the tough soldier Captain Lourdes Bacalso.

And before the year ends, we’re about to see Sue in another light as she stars as Venus Magbanua in the forthcoming Kapamilya series The Iron Heart, which will be headlined by Richard Gutierrez. Catch its premiere on November 14 at 8:40PM on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5!
