The video opens with Helen discussing the hierarchy of Tatsulok with Apollo (Richard Gutierrez), telling him that his father (Al Tantay)’s killer is a member of the said syndicate group. It was necessary to provoke and convince him to take on a mission to topple Tatsulok as a secret agent for the Crime Investigation Bureau. He would become her weapon.
She made sure Apollo understands the plan, which is to infiltrate Tatsulok by posing as a criminal. She examined Priam (Albert Martinez) – his capabilities and connections. Considering Priam’s power, Helen warned Apollo to stick with the plan, thus scolding him whenever he throws himself into situations such as when he assassinated Priam.
The terror in Maricel’s voice was organic and clear in that scene where Helen discovered Priam escaped death but not his son Jason (Lance Carr). She knew the bereaved father would explode.
One of Maricel’s impressive qualities as an actress is she refuses to break character. Her portrayal of Helen is consistently fierce with just the right amount of emotion. For instance, she chided Apollo for infiltrating Tatsulok’s laboratory in Delos without her permission, but after a while commended him for a job well done.
Helen’s intensity was on full display when she evaded Senator Quintana (Archie Adamos)’s interrogation about her secret agent after Apollo managed to disrupt the operations of Athernity Beauty. Then, she showcased her action flair when Helen was about to be abducted by a group of men. Apollo came to the rescue and together they fought the bad guys.
We also can’t leave out the scene where she engaged in a female showdown with Athena (Emmanuelle Vera) as she inspects the products of Athernity Beauty. Athena swiped at her, but Helen calmly walked out of the room. Silence is power, right?
Capping this off is Helen’s burning dialogue to the corrupt Senator, warning him, “You don’t mess with me… Hindi mo ako totoong kilala. Hindi ako basta-basta nagpapa-intimidate o napapatay nang gano’n lang.” And the way Maricel uttered every word was bone-chilling.
