In the primetime action-drama series The Iron Heart, her sassy yet fierce character Venus Magbanua has DJ Jhai Ho’s Mama D as her ever-reliable bestie. But in real life, Kapamilya actress Sue Ramirez apparently has a bunch of friends.
And one of them is her fellow multi-hyphenate Kristel Fulgar, to whom she’s been friends with for almost a decade now. Their friendship blossomed when they worked together in the remake of the classic romance drama Pangako Sa ‘Yo in 2015. It might be work that initially bound them, but it’s their mutual interest and talent in singing that seemed to have further fortified their connection.
In fact, short videos of them covering various popular songs off-cam that they uploaded on social media many years ago received positive feedbacks from their fans and netizens alike, and even went viral. This showcase of their singing prowess spawned to two digital concerts dubbed “Double Hearts” in 2016 and “4 Of A Kind: The Unforgettable Concert” in 2017, which were both staged by One Music PH and featured their fellow then up-and-rising 7Kapamilya stars Loisa Andalio and Maris Racal.
Even though they possess totally different personalities – with Sue being the more loquacious and outgoing one, while Kristel being the more reticent and shyer between them, it’s indeed amazing how the two clicked and become the best of friends. Even Sue was amazed, as she wrote in an old Instagram post: “We are the exact opposite of each other. It's a mystery how we became friends when the only thing we have in common is our love for music and that we hate the color pink. Music can really connect people in ways I can't even explain. It's amazing!”
Apart from being both musically-inclined, among the other things that bind them are their fondness on Korean pop culture and their innate kakulitan that naturally goes out of them every time they are together, as what we can see in some of the video blogs of Kristel in which Sue made appearances. Their ardent followers could also note their unmistakable closeness as they could pick on one another without worrying that the other would get piqued, as well as with how they would look after one another whenever one of them is in a pressuring or tough situation.
Besides, we also find their “term of endearment” cute and quite unique – with Sue calling Kristel “ate” (or big sister) since she is two years older than her, while the latter calling the former “madam.” They even had their own hashtag called “#mgabatangSueTel.”
Both of them may be busy with their respective careers – Sue as a sought-after leading lady and brand ambassador, while Kristel as a successful content creator and up-and-coming talent both here and in South Korea, but they still make sure to greet each other on their special days and see one another whenever their hectic schedules permit.
