It is believed that it’s hard to find and maintain genuine friendships in this ever unpredictable and complicated world of show business. But The Iron Heart star Sofia Andres and her longtime friend Kathryn Bernardo are indeed so blessed to have found each other and become besties for almost a decade now.

It can be recalled that they first worked together in the 2012 teen drama Princess and I, wherein they played the roles of adoptive sisters Mikay (Kathryn) and Dindi (Sofia). Little we did know that they weren’t just taping friends, as they went on to become close friends in real life. And at present, they are “mag-kumares” since the Asia’s Superstar is among the godparents of Sofia’s adorable daughter Zoe Natalia.

In an episode of Kathryn’s online talk show “TGIS” in June 2021, the two versatile actresses talked about their friendship and early days of their showbiz careers, other things they aspire to do aside from acting, Sofia’s pregnancy, and everything in between.

“Kasi unang-una, ikaw ang una kong naka-work sa showbiz and you’re the most genuine [person] I know. Have you heard someone to whom I’m close with? Wala. Kasi in the long run, may mga tao pa ring magre-reach out sa’yo kahit ‘di kayo nag-uusap, at kaya ‘yon. So, I appreciate that. Parang hinonor ko lang na I think you have to know,” Sofia told Kathryn when asked why she chose her to be one of the people to first know about her “top secret” then, which was her pregnancy with Zoe.

It was also on that same interview when their fans found out that it’s not only strong and beautiful friendship that they share, but both of them are also fascinated with the name “Zoe.” Kath revealed that she used to consider naming her future daughter “Zoe” when she was still a kid, while it had been Sofia’s dream name. Isn’t it cute?
