It has been a thrilling nine months for viewers of The General’s Daughter, but all good things must come to an end. As the big finale inches closer and closer, the cast reminisced about some of the most memorable moments from the primetime series.
Lead actress Angel Locsin will never forget their shootout at the cemetery. It was an intense scene with their all-star cast. Rhian (Locsin) was trying to confront Tiago (Tirso Cruz III) about the truth of her identity when an earthquake hit. “’Yung mga kaeksena ko sobrang pro, ayaw umalis sa puwesto nila, lumilindol na,” Angel recounted. Everyone else did not seem to care, so she took it upon herself to stop the take for their safety.
Maricel Soriano was not in the said cemetery scene but she knows exactly what it is like to be engrossed in her character. The Diamond Star found it easy to act alongside Arjo Atayde because she truly thought of him as her son. An instance she remembered was when Elai (Atayde) was kidnapped. Because of the intensity of her emotions, she ended up with a bruise on her arm from chasing after the van that took him.
Indeed, they will do anything for their role, just like when Paulo Avelino jumped off a cliff and almost drowned. In his defense, he is capable of swimming. On that day, however, he was exhausted from lack of sleep. His clothing at the time did not help either. “Dito ko po natutunan na hindi na po ko sisisid na naka-maong, na naka-jacket at naka-boots,” he admitted.
Another cast member who tries his best to stay in character is JC De Vera. So, whenever he does breaks character is memorable for him. When Elai was crying over his father’s dead body, Ethan (De Vera) was supposed to remain stoic because he is a soldier. Yet, because of Arjo’s incredible performance, JC broke down in tears as well. “Isipin n’yo, kung napaiyak niya po ‘yung mga ka-eksena niya sa totoong buhay, what more ‘yung mga viewers,” JC praised.
When talking about famous moments from The General’s Daughter, there is one that Tirso Cruz III will never forget. And that is the viral video of him looking for Rhian. Apparently, they did not intend the scene to be funny, but this did not stop the internet from turning it into a meme. “Tuwing makikita ko sa labas, ‘nasaan si Rhian’,” he shared the fans’ enthusiastic reaction.
Meanwhile, for Albert Martinez and Janice De Belen, their favorite moments have yet to air. “From 7 a.m. hanggang 6 p.m., nakikipagsuntukan kami,” Albert revealed about an upcoming fight scene with Franco (Avelino). It is one of the toughest he has shot in his entire career. On the other hand, Janice teased an emotional confrontation with Rhian that is filled with surprises. This was unforgettable for her because they were time pressured to finish the two heavy scenes, which left them exhausted afterwards.
