Each episode of the most-talked about afternoon teleserye The Better Half has been bringing us on the edge of our seats and taking our breaths away as the deranged Bianca Buenaflor (Denise Laurel) continues her vicious, vengeful schemes to win the heart of her most beloved Marco (Carlo Aquino). Certainly, many of us feel anger and hate towards Bianca. But, what could have triggered this spate of aggression? We came up with five of the most unfortunate circumstances that happened to Bianca that could help us understand her huge resentment and ruthlessness.
She was molested at a very young age
Her Uncle Juancho Fuentes (Epy Quizon) was her first victim. Her fury against her supposedly close relative ignited when he raped her repeatedly since she was very young and became the “monster” she’s frightened of every night. His misdemeanor continued until Bianca was already an adult and taunted her that no one would ever love her, even Marco. These sparked Bianca’s rage, brutally killing him by incessantly hitting him with a wooden figurine on the head.
She felt isolated by uncaring stepmom
It was painful for both Bianca and her stepmom Clarita (Maila Gumila) to know that they were not really related after finding out she was her father’s love child. They tried to live harmoniously together but it was indeed difficult for both of them. Although she had a mother figure in her life, Bianca was not able to feel compassion and instead felt isolated and twice violated after Clarita shrugged off Juancho’s evil acts and opposed her obsession with Marco. However, until her chilling death, Clarita denied her claims.
Her unrequited love
Marco has been “the most kind, protective, and tender” towards her. His arms have been her safety net ever since they were still children, as he saved her from being run over by a speeding car and guarded her until she dozed off. Thus, she never let the opportunity to be reunited with her eternal love just pass and did everything she could to keep him by her side. Bianca’s overwhelming love for him turned into obsession and tremendously took a toll on her, making her do things unrealizable. However, her blissful life with her husband Marco and their unica hija Julia Bianca became short-lived after he was able to fully recover from amnesia and yearned to get back to his real wife. With Camille (Shaina Magdayao) gaining the attention and affection of her family, her extreme jealousy was the threshold of her vengeful plot that even affected the people around them.
Her daughter’s demise
She’s been her bundle of joy, her inspiration, her life. After Marco left, Julia had been her firm source of strength to still go on with life amidst the struggles and depression she went through. But her untimely death due to a tragic accident, which happened to involve her, caused Bianca’s world and her sanity to crumble. She sought justice by also claiming the life of Mayor Dyna Soriano (Carmi Martin), who she suspected as the mastermind behind the abduction of her daughter.
Having no constant ally
No matter what happened, her father had been her consistent ally. Alfredo (Bart Guingona) had been her unwavering supporter right from the start – from her obsession with Marco to conducting her delusional plans against Camille and the law.But when he unexpectedly died, Bianca felt very alone and her desire to kill her enemies intensified. Will Bianca succeed with her vile acts? Or will Camille and her loved-ones be able to escape from her wretched clutches? Don’t miss the climactic episodes of The Better Half weekdays after Pusong Ligaw, as it nears to its much-awaited finale.
