For the first time in The Voice of the Philippines history, four grand champions were named in the unprecedented Finale Weekend held virtually from August 15 to 16.
Heart Salvador of Muntinlupa from Kamp Kawayan, Cydel Gabutero of Negros Occidental from Team FamiLea, Isang Manlapaz of Muntinlupa City from Team Apl, and Kendra Aguirre of Las Pinas City from Team Sarah won Php500,000and a house and lot each as prizes in the competition.
They all first were named as team winners of the night, with Heart garnering a combined score of 40.83, Cydel getting 48.33, Isang tallying 45.83, and Kendra scoring 44.17.
Heart clearly showed her growth, consistency and powerful vocals when she sang Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” with the rest of Kamp Kawayan—Kate Campo of Angono, Rizal, and Rock Opong of Iloilo City.
Cydel, meanwhile embodied the song Team FamiLea sang in the finale, which was another Withers song, “Lean On Me” with her soulful, energetic verve, dominating the performance over teammates Alexia Tag-at of Cebu City and Kristian Rajagopal of Surigao City.
Isang was particularly shocked with the announcement as she didn’t expect being named the team winner. Although the judges noticed that her performance of KZ Tandingan’s “Labo” was lit with so much vibrancy and soul, making her the obvious team winner over Calvin Candelaria of Camarines Sur and Yang-Yang Aloya of Batangas.
And Kendra was also in shock after being named as the Team Sarah winner, but her version of December Avenue’s “Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw” was particularly heartfelt and richer than Andre Parker of Antipolo City and Jaylloyd Garche of Bacolod City, in her group, sealing the victory.
A mentor’s total score for the team winner comprise 50 percent of combined total. The rest would come from the average tally of the other judges.
Performances from each team’s Top 3 on the unprecedented The Voice Teens finale weekend on the Kapamilya Channel were streamed from their homes, with the mentors also giving out their scores and comments virtually.
