REVIEW: The Story of Us premiere offers epic start to compelling love story Part 3

Understanding the characters

Director Richard V. Somes pieced it all together carefully and splendidly for the audience to not only appreciate what they are seeing, but also understand how each character grows in the story, how they relate to one another, how they attain significance in its story’s progress, and eventually how they would achieve their destiny.

The performances of Zaijan Jaranilla and Alyanna Angeles were commendable as they masterfully provide insight and understanding to where their grown up characters to be portrayed by Xian Lim and Kim Chiu are coming from. In fact, it seemed they could carry the whole drama on their own, as audiences could very much see and feel what they are going through.

Although they might not have the grittiest scenes yet in the pilot episode last February 29, top Pinoy thespians John Arcilla, Aiko Melendez, Susan Africa and Zsa Zsa Padilla’s inclusion in the cast, plus the US-based Princess Punzalan, Carlo Muñoz, Leandro Muñoz, and Beth Tamayo’s most anticipated comeback portrayals in the drama, gives the series a very promising future with their acting prowess that will surely light up the evenings.
