“The Greatest Love,” according to the legendary Ricky Lee, the show’s Creative Consultant, is a story about a mother who suffers from dementia. The dementia in this series stands for both the disease and the figurative sickness that a lot of our children have. They forget that their mothers love them, that despite being scolded or disciplined, or even when they get separated, in the end a mother’s love never tires. Ginny Monteagudo-Ocampo, the Executive-in-charge of Production, shared that they decided to do a tribute for all mothers because, while conceptualizing, they noticed that there are no longer a lot of stories that centers on what a mother goes through. This is why Ricky hopes that each episode of “The Greatest Love” will remind every child to hug their moms when they get home, because sometimes we forget to ask them how they are. He added that even if we keep repeating stories like this about mothers, it will never be enough, because a lot of times we take them for granted thinking that they will always be there. We fail to understand that our moms were also children once; that, once upon a time, they also loved and went through heartaches and hardships just like us.
Sylvia Sanchez describes her character Gloria as a mother who will endure all suffering and pain for her children. Her motherhood doesn’t have a contract that expires; instead she will be a mother to her children until the day she dies. Dimples Romana, meanwhile, plays the eldest child Amanda who clashes the most with her mother because they are so much alike. Matt Evans is the oldest son Andrei who works as a makeup artist, while Arron Villaflor is a musician like his dad and the black sheep of the family. The youngest child, Lizelle, is played by Andi Eigenmann. She is the closest to her mom and the one who will choose to stay to take care of Gloria after her other siblings leave to live on their own. Lastly, Joshua Garcia is Z, Amanda’s son. He is closer to his grandmother, Gloria, than to his own mom.
