Dimples Romana has learned so much from Amanda in “The Greatest Love”

As the hit afternoon drama The Greatest Love stretches down to its last week of airing, one cast member will have difficulty letting go of the gripping character she portrayed in the series.

For Dimples Romana, it may take a long while before moving on from Amanda because the character made a huge impact on her as a person.

Deep connection

“Amanda has pretty made an impact on me in the way that…I don’t say it’s weird but she’s very profound. I really connected with Amanda on a very deep level,” Dimples reveals to ABS-CBN.com in an exclusive interview. “I feel I’ve grown so fondly of Amanda that I’ve learned to love her as when she aches, I ache. When she’s happy, I’m super happy.”

Such a connection, she said, speaks of how the character made her a better actor.

“But the impact is really on me as an actor,” Dimples noted.  “Iba yung naituro niya sa akin as an actor. I’ve learned to have more discipline in my craft.”

This is because Amanda is very much relatable to Dimples.

“Not only because I relate to her since I’m the eldest in the family but also because she loves so much. Unfortunately, she’s been given half-truths all the time, which was for her protection. So understandably maraming bagay na hindi nasasabi kaagad,” Dimples stressed.

Road to enlightenment and acceptance

And, Amanda’s road to enlightenment and acceptance entailed a lot of challenges in her depiction of this much talked about, multi-dimensional character but Dimples said it was very much fulfilling and rewarding.

Best of all, the show influenced her a lot in real life.

“(It is) so enormous in fact that in my everyday life, I feel The Greatest Love has given me so much insight as how I will be as a woman.”

Yet the most meaningful effect of the show to her was being more demonstrative in expressing her love to her own mother.

Loving mom even more

“I’ve grown to love my mom even more. I’ve learned how to express myself even more,” she said.

Dimples revealed that she “grew a bit apart” from her mother because of “circumstances,” such as having a sister who was diagnosed and later succumbed to leukemia. “She was closer to her than me,” she said.

But since playing the role of Amanda, Dimples said: “I’ve found myself saying I love you to my mom more often.”

Time is of the essence

The biggest lesson she learned from the show? Never waste time in expressing your love to those dear to you.

“Time is not ours. Time can be our friend if we wanted to but it’s not ours to keep,” Dimples said. “So if we’ll be smart about it, every single second would count and we have to make sure that we spend as much time as we can with our family and our loved ones.”
