5 Reasons Why 'The Good Son' Is Something We Should Be Excited About

Last Monday, September 18, the members of the entertainment press were invited to a special advanced screening of ABS-CBN’s newest primetime series, “The Good Son.” After seeing the first three episodes of the family drama at the Dolphy Theater, they were immediately asked what they thought of the show. We have gathered their reviews and today, we will list down the 5 reasons why “The Good Son” is something we should be excited about.

1. One of the lead stars is Joshua Garcia.

Coming from the success of his latest movie, “Love You To The Stars and Back,” and his last teleserye in the Kapamilya Network, “The Greatest Love,” Joshua Garcia is now ready to dominate primetime television with his undeniable charm and extraordinary acting skills in “The Good Son.”

“Walang dudang mamahalin at yayakapin ang The Good Son. Mahuhusay ang artista at panalo ang pagkakasulat at pagkalahad ng kwento. Joshua Garcia is without a doubt the best young actor we have right now.” –Alwyn Ignacio (Abante Tonite)

“Joshua Garcia is promising with or without lines, very expressive ang mga mata.” –CHIKANESSAVE

2. The series features three loveteams, NLex, McLisse, and JeLoi.

Aside from Joshua Garcia, the series also features three of the hottest and most in-demand loveteams in the country today, Nash Aguas and Alexa Ilacad, Mccoy de Leon and Elisse Joson, and Jerome Ponce and Loisa Andalio.

“Wala kang sasayanging eksena ng mga aktor sa teleserye. Tututukan mo talaga lalong-lalo na ang mga baguhang aktor na hindi mo sukat akalaing may ibubuga! Drama at its best ang TGS! Pinagbuklod sa iisang teleserye ang magagaling na beterano at baguhang aktor! Ang gagaling nila!” –Dominic Rea (Bandera)

“Bawal sa show na ito ang hindi marunong umarte.” –Ethel Ramos (Malaya, Pang Masa, People's Journal Tonight)

3. The supporting cast members are award-winning veteran actors and actresses.

The series also stars some of the country’s most talented actors and actresses such as Eula Valdez, Mylene Dizon, John Estrada, Liza Lorena, Jeric Raval, and Ronnie Lazaro, with the special participation of Albert Martinez.

“Napakahuhusay din ng mga senior stars na sina Mylene Dizon, Eula Valdez, Albert Martinez, John Estrada, Liza Lorena and Ronnie Lazaro. Wagas kung wagas ang performance nilang lahat.” –Vinia Vivar (Malaya, Pang Masa, People's Journal Tonight)

“The Good Son showcased the acting skills of different generations. It clearly espouses that there's no greater love then a mother's love.” –CHIKANESSAVE

4. It is directed by two highly acclaimed directors, Emmanuel Palo and Andoy Ranay.

The series is directed by two of the country’s brilliant directors, Emmanuel Palo and Andoy Ranay. Before “The Good Son,” they directed “Doble Kara” and “Till I Met You” respectively, both under the Dreamscape Entertainment unit.

“There are many good things going for the new teleserye, The Good Son. For one the story is familiar in Philippine setting, the direction of Manny Palo and Andoy Lastrilla Ranay is taut and refreshingly endearing.” –Pablo Tariman (The Philippine Star)

“Wow and Amazing itong #TheGoodSon siguradong maraming mag aabang na naman nito. Mahihiya ang mga entry ng MMFF sa ganda ng teleseryeng ito. Grabe ang ganda talaga. Yung pang tatlong gabing pinanood namin sa screening ng The Good Son ng Dreamscape daig pa yung pelikula sa ganda.” –Noel Orsal (PEP.ph)

5. “The Good Son” is not your ordinary family drama.

The newest family drama on primetime television promises to be different from the formulaic and usual teleseryes. Aside from the intense confrontation scenes, the series is also full of plot twists and revelations. Its story is truly one-of-a-kind and it will definitely leave you wanting for more.

“It would be the barometer by which soap operas are measured as it boasts of an ensemble acting, a very good dramatic narrative and a story line which all of us can relate to. It gives one a ringside view of how families cope with death and infidelity.” –Alex Brosas (Manila Bulletin)

“Marami nang teleserye na may anggulo sa istorya tungkol sa kabit at ibang pamilya, pero iba ang atake at kuwentong masasaksihan sa The Good Son. Idagdag pa ang magagaling na mga artista... Ang tindi ng emosyon, ang tindi ng aktingan... Panalo!” –Glen Sibonga (TEMPO)

“INTENSE. The Good Son is more than just a showcase of brilliant acting, its strength lies in a really compelling story.” –RANDOM REPUBLIKA

“The Good Son” premieres tonight, September 25, after “La Luna Sangre” only on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
