Despite being public figures and admitting that they have huge differences when it comes to their principles, Mark Lapid and wife Tanya Garcia have successfully fought these challenges and still going strong for almost 10 years now.
In their chat with the momshies of Magandang Buhay, the couple enthusiastically recounted that their first meeting was on the set of the 2006 action movie Batas Militar in which she was his leading lady. Although they didn’t feel any sparks during the filming, Mark, a former Pampanga governor and son of ex-senator Lito Lapid, admitted that he got smitten with her beauty and grace at first sight. Romance didn’t immediately bloom between them but they became very close friends, until their relationship with their exes failed and they decided to date.
They tied the knot in July 30, 2010 through civil rites in Porac, Pampanga and have three pretty young daughters, namely Micsha Amidala, Matilda Anika, and Madeleine Ariana. Even though a church wedding is one of the most anticipated milestones in our lives, especially to their daughters, Tanya begs to differ.
Actually, Mark has been proposing to her but she always refuses, saying that they’re already happy and settled with their kids so it’s none of their priorities and it’s something that no longer excites her. After all, their happiness, love, and contentment are evident in their Instagram snaps showing how they enjoy doing things together and as a family, such as travelling, working out, road trips, and date nights. Besides, they are also busy running their family restaurant business, Locavore.
When asked if there would be a probability that she’s going to change her decision, the actress jested she could in one condition: that Magandang Buhay host Karla Estrada would be one of the sponsors.
In their six years of marriage, Tanya confessed that the first two years was actually tough for them because they had to undergo a lot of adjustments. Since they were brought up differently, it’s inevitable they would encounter problems, with Mark raised in the province while Tanya is a half-American. Growing up in a traditional Filipino family and having reserved nature, Mark, she said, was initially taken aback with her liberalism. Their egos would clash and argue incessantly without any of them giving way. Until now, they admit, everyday is a learning experience but through it all, they stuck with each other through thick and thin.
As parents, the couple were described by their adorable darlings Micsha and Mattie as the best mom and dad in the world.
Tanya currently stars in the primetime drama series, The Blood Sisters. She portrays the role of Brenda Solomon, the wife of Greg (Ian De Leon) and the mother of their two daughters. Meanwhile, Mark stars on the top-rating primetime action-drama series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Anton/Tigre, a member of the rebel group Pulang Araw.
