After a tumultuous battle of revenge between exes Jill (Jodi Sta Maria) and David (Zanjoe Marudo), the focus of The Broken Marriage Vow’s final episode shrinks to Jill’s ultimate heartbreak, and later on, her happy ending – her relationship with son Gio (Zaijian Jaranilla).
Matched by the sentimentality of Baguio’s dreamy sceneries, the series’ final episode witnessed new chapters unfold in the lives of the main characters. Lexy (Sue Ramirez) returned to Baguio with her parents Fred (Art Acuna) and Nathalia (Rachel Alejandro), and her daughter Kylie. Among the three key players in the story, it seems Lexy got the easiest route to a happy ending despite her bad record as a home-wrecker.
As for David, it has been a struggle to find a job without his past connections and the stigma of his scandal. And this affects his promise to become a better man. There were probably a few eye-rolling among viewers when David walked out and threw his portfolio down the trash during a supposed job interview. We understand the frustration over being judged for his past. But, can he not become as determined as his ex-wives? David needs to man up if he wants a reformed relationship with his kids, both of whom he estranged himself from.
Meanwhile, incurable romantics content themselves imagining sunny possibilities about Jill and Gabby (Jake Ejercito)’s love story. In their last scene together, he dropped her home, she thanked him, and then, he cupped her face and said “anytime.”
The final scene witnessed Jill preparing the table one morning. Somebody rang the doorbell. It was none other than Gio. Jill broke down into tears, and we viewers cried with her, as she finally received the only kind of happy ending she’s hoping for – Gio finally coming home.
