Zanjoe Marudo’s remarkable television stints through the years

He rose to fame as one of the housemates of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition, wherein he emerged as the 4th Big Placer. And throughout his almost two decades in the entertainment scene, Zanjoe Marudo has successfully cemented his reputation as one of the country’s most bankable and well-loved heartthrobs.

As we look forward on seeing his sure-fire performance as the manipulative and philandering husband David Ilustre in the highly anticipated primetime series The Broken Marriage Vow, let’s look back on some of his remarkable stints in ABS-CBN programs in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!

He may have fallen short in his bid to becoming the Big Winner, but the support he receives in every project he does has been truly overwhelming. He had his acting debut via the “Love Letters” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya and was succeeded by his stint in the weekly sitcom Aalog-alog.

After taking on the superhero role of Super Islaw in the Super Inggo and Super Inggo 1.5: Ang Bagong Bangis, Zanjoe charmed us as one of the leading men of Anne Curtis in the 2008 fantaserye Dyosa. The year 2009 had been a busy one for him as he appeared in five Kapamilya shows – comedy programs Parekoy and Banana Split, teleseryes The Wedding and Sineserye Presents: Florinda, and the Filipino adaptation of the Korean drama Lovers in Paris.

From top-billing several episodes of MMK and two narratives of Precious Hearts Romances Presents in 2010 and 2011, he went on to make our afternoons sweltering as the leading man of Megan Young in PHR Presents: Hiyas.

The 39-year-old actor eventually accepted daddy roles when he was chosen to become the father of Andrea Brillantes in the incarnation of the classic 80s soap opera Annaliza in 2013. It was succeeded by his endearing portrayal as the foster dad of child star Jana Agoncillo in Dream Dad in 2014 and as the loving father of Heart Ramos in My Dear Heart in 2017.

Meanwhile, it was in 2016 when he did Tubig At Langis, wherein his character Natoy trended online in the recent in 2020 in light of its re-run. After astounding us with his notable portrayals in the “Kweba” and “Anino” episodes of MMK on that same year, he continued to impress us with his performances in the “Tangke” and “Balsa” episodes of the long-running drama anthology.

He had his first-ever foray in daytime drama in 2018 through Playhouse, wherein he was paired with Angelica Panganiban. They once again played as a couple in the 2020 primetime drama Walang Hanggang Paalam.

Are you excited as us to see Zanjoe in a different light? Well, you better not miss an episode of The Broken Marriage Vow once it starts airing on January 24 in Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z Channel 11.
