From astounding us with her impressive stint as antagonists Natalie Alcantara in Wildflower and as the young Alba in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos, Roxanne Barcelo is delighting us anew with her newest (and arguably most exciting role to date!) in the iWant original series “Fluid.”
A Benedict Mique masterpiece that tackles fluid sexuality, the seasoned singer-actress plays the role of Mitch, a heartbroken woman who found herself torn between her straight ex-boyfriend and her lesbian lover.
To promote her latest project, she recently dropped by the Kapamilya Chat to discuss about it and entertain us not only with her perkiness during the interview, but with how she enthusiastically accepted the challenges that Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com had prepared for her – and one of those was “Roxanne Barcelo reacts on Roxanne Barcelo.”
In this mini game, we asked her to react on her own vocal performances during her participation in the Celebrity Edition of It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan a few months ago.
The initial video shown to her was her heart-rending rendition of the Gary Valenciano hit “How Did You Know” in the Top 3 Tapatan round, wherein she revealed that she actually had dry throat during that time. She said that song never failed to make her tear up ever since seeing the OPM icon sing it live in his local tours in which she used to be the front act.
Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” was the second one, which the 35-year-old talented artist sang in the Huling Tapatan Round. According to her, the late legendary actress was among her favorites, thus performing her song and copping her iconic look made the number a dream come true.
Last, but definitely not the least, was her first TNT performance in the Daily Rounds wherein she swooned everyone with her mellifluous rendition of the classic hit “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” . As the song made her emotional during that number, Roxanne sill wasn’t able to hold back her emotions by just watching it because she was reminded of deceased dad. She then went to impart the story behind the song’s sentimental affiliation with her father and the realizations it instilled to her about life.
After watching each video, she was handed with pieces of paper containing the positive comments of netizens on her performances, which really made her overwhelmed with kilig!
