Music has the ability to touch people emotionally, when words alone can’t. Jovany Satera, the “DJmazing Singer” from North Cotabato, has learned this after working as a disk jockey in a local radio station. Aside from playing song requests and giving love advice to his callers, he also works as a composer for jingles. He has expressed his love and passion for music through various forms and now, he is definitely ready to let his voice be heard by a bigger audience. Jovany is now one of the grand finalists who will compete for the golden microphone in Tawag ng Tanghalan. Today, let’s follow Jovany’s journey from Mindanao to the finals.
Jovany first impressed the audience and judges with his beautiful rendition of Tom Jones’ “Delilah.” After he was declared as the daily winner, he challenged two-time defending champion, Manny Lucas. Manny performed “Say That You Love Me” while Jovany sang his own rendition of Larry Graham’s “One In A Million You.” In the end, the daily winner was able to steal the title and he was declared as the new champion.
The daily winner from Metro Manila, Mark Joseph Rante, performed his own version of “I Will Be Here” but Jovany matched it with his impressive performance of Tom Jones’ “I Who Have Nothing.” Jovany won once again and he was able to successfully defend his title.
Even the heartfelt performance of Charlyn Chavez, the daily winner from Metro Manila, of “Mahal Ko O Mahal Ako” wasn’t able to defeat Jovany’s rendition of Ray Charles’ “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” and once again, he was able to defend his title and retain his spot in the singing competition.
Xerxes Cachopero, the daily winner from Visayas, attempted to steal the title of the defending winner with his performance of “Hiling.” Jovany matched it with his amazing rendition of Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Quando, Quando, Quando” and he was able to successfully defeat his opponent.
Roscel Paolo Marquez, the daily winner from Luzon, gave an impressive rendition of “Never Ever Say Goodbye,” but Jovany’s performance of Tom Jones’ “Green Green Grass of Home” impressed the judges more. Jovany was able to defend his title and he also advanced to the semi-finals of the singing competition.
The daily winner from Luzon, Zyrra Lynn Saboy, wowed the judges and audience with her performance of “Killing Me Softly,” however, Jovany still managed to top it with his rendition of Bobby Helms’ “Fraulein.” Once again, Jovany won and retained his spot in the competition.
Larry Marmol, the daily winner from Luzon, sang his own version of “Mahawi Man Ang Ulap” and gave a performance that was really hard to beat. Jovany tried to match it with his rendition of “Only You” by The Platters. Unfortunately, he failed to defend his title with his performance and Larry was declared as the new champion.
