More than a month since her top trending track “Bawal Lumabas (The Classroom Song)” was released, Love Thy Woman star Kim Chiu posted a video on her official YouTube channel last June 29 chronicling the journey she went through from when it began up to its end.
It commenced by showing snippets of the news report regarding the initial shutdown of ABS-CBN last May 5 and of her statement in the #LabanKapamilya Facebook Live event that went viral in the next days and weeks as it garnered mixed reactions from the netizens.
With all the bashing and snide remarks she had received, this compelled her to take a time off from social media, until she got tons of messages from her friends and bosses regarding the trending open letter posted on Facebook by user Adrian Crisanto and had raked in thousands of reactions, comments, and shares from netizens. At the same time, unbeknownst to her, her infamous “Bawal Lumabas” statement was turned into a phenomenal dance challenge, thanks to the beats provided by DJ Squammy.
Clips of her fun and uplifting conversation with her two newfound friends Adrian and DJ Squammy, which was shared on her vlog published on May 19, as well as of the behind-the-scenes footage of the song writing process and music video shoot that exhibited how she struggled and enjoyed each moment of doing it.
And all her hardships were definitely worth it as it became a top track after the lyric-music video garnered 10 million views in just one day, topped the local music charts, and her live performance of it on a radio show was amazingly record-breaking.
After uploading her collaboration with online sensation DJ Loonyo of the official #BawalLumabasGalawChallenge, the Chinita Princess later on released limited edition #BawalLumabas shirts, which proceeds would all go to the COVID-19 mass testing initiative of Angel Locsin, Dimples Romana, and Anne Curtis. Aside from donating Php300,000 to Shop n Share, she also distributed relief packages and sanitary kits for our underprivileged kababayans, especially to the jeepney drivers severely affected by the community quarantine.
Kim ended the vlog by declaring the end of the #BawalLumabas journey and imparting the moral lessons she learned along the way.
“This is the end of the journey. I’ve learned so much and let us always be reminded to spread kindness, to spread love [and] generosity dahil kung ano ‘yong ibibigay mo sa kapwa mo, ‘yon din ang matatanggap mo. You can win by doing good, by spreading love, by spreading kindness, and alam mo na kilala mo ‘yong sarili mo. Life goes on and life teaches you lessons, and this is my lesson,” she said.
Then she added, “I hope I inspired my classmates over there sa nangyari. And then to keep going na huwag natin hayaan ‘yong mga taong hindi naman nakakakilala sa atin na tapak-tapakan tayo. Basta alam natin ang totoo and mag-comply tayo na gumawa ng mabuti dahil mare-rewardan tayo sa itaas. ‘Di man sa kapwa tao natin, alam natin na pinapanood tayo ng Panginoon and mare-rewardan tayo in the best time na gusto niya tayong bigyan ng reward.”
