Almost a month after Marry Me, Marry You ended, Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez extend the ‘kilig’ by taking on fun challenges in “Kilig Match,” an interactive benefit show.
Wearing matching outfits, PauNine entertained netizens and solid shippers by taking on their requests, dares, and questions as a way of helping raise funds for Typhoon Odette survivors. The night started with a little catching up about their recent Valentine’s Day celebration. Janine mentioned she was taping with Lovi Poe while Paulo spent the day on fitness.
The Kapamilya loveteam went elusive when asked if they’ve sent or received special gifts for V-Day. But when asked the traits they like about each other, PauNine answered without hesitation. Janine expressed appreciation for Paulo’s big-heartedness, generosity, and genuine care not just to her but to everyone he meets, especially the people behind the scenes. “Palagi niyang chine-check kung okay ka. Minsan kahit hindi mo sabihin, nakikita na niya ‘yung kailangan mo,” she said.
Meanwhile, Paulo admires Janine’s simplicity, “Hindi mo kailangan ng kahit anong engrande. Hindi mo kailangan magpa-impress. Kung sino ka, parang jive ka niya talaga.”
Paulo also mentioned he’s met almost all Janine’s family members. He already met her brother Diego Gutierrez on ASAP Natin ‘To and her other siblings as well. He’s already shared several projects with her mom Lotlot de Leon but he’s yet to work with her dad Monching Gutierrez. “Sana gusto nila ako,” he quipped.
Solid PauNine lovers are in for a treat as the tandem stars in a movie together. It was slated for release this February but had to be postponed due to COVID-19 surge. Paulo, who is also the film’s co-producer, hopes it gets to be shown in cinemas soon.
The beloved duo also played “One Truth, One Lie” wherein they’d give two statements about themselves and the other one would guess which could be the truth and the lie. Round one was quite easy for Janine as she’s able to debunk Paulo’s statement that he loves bacon. She knows he’s a pescatarian.
Then, Janine gave two options for her favorite subject, either Math or History. She also asked Paulo to pick the truth between the statements “lagi akong late sa set” and “ang pangalan ko ay Janine Marie Elizabeth.” This round went a little funny, with Paulo trying to prove Janine’s constant tardiness on the set of Marry Me, Marry You.
Janine said in the next round, “mahal kita, hindi kita mahal.” Paulo answered, “Truth ‘yung mahal niya ako.” And it ended there as Janine kept silent when asked to react.
In another challenge, Paulo and Janine revealed the last text messages they sent to one another. Janine’s message says “I can just come up” that was sent when she arrived at the “studio.” Meanwhile, a photo of his grandparents is the last thing he sent her.
At some point, Janine answered a question about Paulo’s love language, which she said is quality time. Then, Paulo confirmed, “Para sa akin, ‘yun ang importante. Kasi kung wala kayong oras, hanap ka ng ibang tao na may oras sa’yo.”
Throughout the episode, Paulo would drop hints about their “past.” Although they didn’t go into the details and they jokingly gave different versions of what happened, Paulo hinted, “May pinili siyang iba.”
To level up the ‘kilig,’ PauNine granted song requests and showcased their chemistry in a movie re-enactment challenge. They gave their own versions of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil’s memorable “Pangit ba ako?” scene from “My Ex and Whys,” as well as Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin’s iconic “Kaibigan mo lang ako” scene from “Labs Kita, Okey Ka Lang?”
Tawag Ng Tanghalan graduates Mackie Empuerto and Raven Umali also joined the livestream to serenade viewers.
