Because Valentine's Day is just right around the corner, stars of upcoming musical series “Lyric and Beat” – Jeremy G, Angela Ken, and Sheena Belarmino – spread love through music and charity in the third episode of “Kilig Match” interactive benefit show.
“Kilig Match'' is the third phase of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s fundraising drive for survivors of Super Typhoon Odette. To make the night more entertaining, Jeremy, Angela, and Sheena granted song requests and answered intriguing questions for every target amount of diamonds donated to live streaming app Kumu.
Host Darla Sauler asked the Gen Z artists about their V-Day plans. Since they’re all single, Jeremy and Sheena will be spending the day with family while Angela will catch up on her school modules.
But when time comes that they’re already in a relationship, their idea of a perfect V-date would have to be mountain trek plus stargazing for Jeremy, picnic and sunset for Angela, while Sheena would love to attend charity events with that person.
With music being a huge part of their lives, of course, there are love songs that give them all the ‘feels.’ Sheena, although the youngest, grew up listening to classics like “Quando Quando Quando,” thanks to her parents’ influence. Angela’s current ‘kilig’ LSS is “Ikaw at Ako” by Johnoy Danao because it's “cute at payapa.”
Jeremy is drawn to the lyrics of John Legend’s “All of Me” that speaks of a person’s devotion to a special someone. It was also his winning piece, sung with a specific girl in mind, during a school talent show in the States when he was around 11.
Asked to describe the status of their hearts using a song, Jeremy belted out “Open Arms,” Sheena went for “I Choose You” by Alessia Cara while Angela, who said her “ka-Valentines” has the initials JPB, sang Moira Dela Torre’s “Tagpuan.”
The jamming got more fun with “Dugtungan” Challenge where they had to continue singing using the last word of the song performed by the previous player. The one who fails to continue within five seconds will get a punishment. Sheena lost in the first round and was dared to showcase her beatboxing skills. Thanks to this game, we had the chance to see Jeremy dance to “Paru-Paro G” and “Toxic.”
The trio treated everyone with performances of their singles and favorite hits. Jeremy gave us a preview of his upcoming Extended Playlist by singing one of his songs “By Your Side” for the first time. He said the EP’s theme is different stages of love and “By Your Side” paints the deep-level emotions in the honeymoon phase.
Angela spread good vibes with her self-written single “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.” It speaks about self-love, which she advocates for. She also serenaded viewers with “Don’t Be Afraid,” which she wrote and was recorded by Anji Salvacion as OST for Jameson Blake and Charlie Dizon’s iWant series “My Sunset Girl.”
It became a night of Yeng Constantino hits as Sheena belted out “Ikaw” and “Alaala.” Meanwhile, Angela added more romance to the ‘kilig kantahan’ with “If We Fall In Love.” Jeremy closed the show with a soulful rendition of the Sam Smith hit “Too Good at Goodbyes.”
