Have you ever wished you were a celebrity basking in the spotlight of fame? If the answer is yes – whatever reason you have for wanting so – you’ve come at the right place! Here, superstars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla dissect the in-and-out of becoming an artista. Plus, they’re taking you down memory lane with major throwback audition clips of your favorite Star Magic artists!
On a round table scattered a collection of photos immortalizing Kathryn and Daniel’s journey into stardom, snippets of their humble beginnings before they reigned supreme as a love team and individual artists. Kathryn picks a few photographs – one taken on the set of It Might Be You where she played as the young Bea Alonzo; her Super Inggo pictorial photo with Makisig Morales, technically her first love team partner; and a behind-the-scene snapshot of her first Gandang Gabi Vice appearance with Daniel. Nostalgia fills the air as they spot old memories built on the set of Growing Up and Princess and I, those good old days when feelings were categorized as mere crush.
Kathryn and Daniel are just two of the biggest stars born under ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, Star Magic. The legacy of discovering Filipino talents began in 1992 when Mr. Freddie M. Garcia and Mr. Johnny Manahan established the ‘Talent Center’ that brought us the iconic afternoon kid’s show, Ang TV. It paved the way for popularity of many dreamers like Vandolph, Maybelyn dela Cruz, and Cheska Garcia.
In 1995, Talent Center launched its first official roster of discoveries collectively known as ‘Star Circle.’ The premier talent agency helped establish the careers of the likes of Jolina Magdangal, Claudine Barretto, Patrick Garcia, Paolo Contis, and Diether Ocampo.
In this exclusive behind-the-scene access, KathNiel previews throwback audition clips of some Star Magic babies like Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban, Dimples Romana, Onemig Bondoc, Carlo Aquino, Bernard Palanca, Karel Marquez, Marlo Mortel, the boy group Anime, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach (then Pia Romero).
Thirteen year-old Liza Soberano auditioned on May 2011 while Andrea Brillantes’ magical journey began when she was eight years old. Rayver Cruz, Carla Humphries, Denise Laurel, Coleen Garcia, Janella Salvador, and Julia Montes’ younger selves also made an appearance in this episode.
Household names Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador, Zanjoe Marudo, Julia Barretto, Enchong Dee, and Robi Domingo had hilarious reactions to their old photographs.
After 25 years, Star Magic continues to discover, train, and help aspiring Filipino talents reach for their dreams. Get to know the new generation of Star Magic artists on the next episode of “Journey to Star Circle.”
