From being one of the most unforgettable housemates and eventual runner-up of the Teen Edition Plus of Pinoy Big Brother, Robi Domingo went on to become one of its recurring hosts in the previous years. As the reality program makes a comeback this coming December 6 for its ninth season, he’s also reprising his truly important role!
But before we get to see him again onboard, let’s take a look back on his notable journey as one of the sought-after presenters in the country through the years in this feature.
As what we have mentioned, his ticket to the local entertainment industry was PBB Teen Edition Plus, wherein he was declared the Second Big Placer. Just like what his fellow alumni did, he put his acting chops to the test as well through his appearances in ABS-CBN series, such as My Girl (2008), My Binondo Girl (2011), Kahit Puso'y Masugatan (2012), Maalaala Mo Kaya, Your Song Presents, and Wansapanataym.
At the same time, he also became a mainstay in ASAP, initially as a member of the all-male group Gigger Boys then as one of its gregarious hosts up to now that it’s reformatted to ASAP Natin ‘To.
But it seemed that he’s indeed slated to become a host because more than a decade after being one of the four winners of the MYX VJ Search in 2008 that kickstarted his hosting career, Robi continues to become one of the most well-loved, not to mention award-winning, emcees in the Philippines.
It was in 2010 when his reputation as one of the most in-demand hosts officially started when he spearheaded the youth-oriented variety show ShoutOut! alongside his fellow teen stars during that time.
From being one of its alumni, Robi then became one of the hosts of PBB – from Unlimited, Teen Edition 4, All-In, 737, up to its Otso season. The same happened to him in the reality show I Dare You in 2011, in which after being one of the celebrity participants of its first season, he became one of the hosts for its second staging in 2013.
After his first team-up with Alex Gonzaga in The Voice Philippines clicked in 2013, they were chosen again as emcees of the reality dance contest Dance Kids in the following year and of the celebrity talent competitions I Can Do That in 2017 and The Kids’ Choice in 2018.
Moreover, he also used to be the semi-regular co-host of the Popstar Royalty in her very own Sunday night variety show Sarah G. Live in 2010 and one of the game masters in the reality show The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition: Doubles alongside Matteo Guidicelli and host Iza Calzado in 2014. Due to his innate sense of humor, he also used to be one of the favorite guest co-hosts of It's Showtime and Umagang Kay Ganda in the previous years.
Alongside Kim Chiu, the 31-year-old well-loved host also ushered the Star Dreamers from different parts of the world towards their dream of making it to at least one of the reality contests of the Kapamilya network as hosts of Star Hunt: The Grand Audition Show – the primer to PBB Otso that they hosted alongside Alex Gonzaga, Melai Cantiveros, Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, and Toni Gonzaga-Soriano.
Last year, he reprised his role as host of the fourth season of The Voice Kids Philippines alongside Ultimate Media Star Toni Gonzaga-Soriano.
He also lent his unprecedented hosting prowess to other ABS-CBN channels, such as Sports & Action and Knowledge Channel, and its online platforms, namely, iWant ASAP, ABS-CBN News’ Lakwatsero, iWant’s “Unlisted,” Jeepney TV’s “Game KNB?,” and Star Magic Lounge.
Because of his exemplary flair in hosting, Robi bagged numerous awards, including PMPC Star Awards trophies for Best Reality Show Host in 2014 and 2016 and the Male TV Host of the Year accolade from the 49th GMMSF Box Office Entertainment Awards in 2018.
Join Robi as he shares his career milestone as a certified Kapamilya on Dec 4, 2020, 2PM. Watch it live on Star Magic and ABS-CBN’s Official YouTube and Facebook accounts, TFC IPTV, iWant TFC app and ktx.ph.
