LizQuen shares ‘buwis-buhay’ experience for Star Magic Love from Home shoot

Despite the uncertainties brought about by the pandemic, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil find the courage to still remain hopeful and optimistic, to just look at the bright side and make the most of what the days bring.

They used to hustle non-stop and juggle different projects all at once, thus the stay-at-home season required them several adjustments. Liza makes an effort to take her mind from worrying by being productive. She went back to taking online classes and exploring her kitchen expertise. Enrique would drop by Liza’s house since the GCQ (General Community Quarantine) was imposed, so he gets to taste and judge her homecooked meals. Among her wide array of dishes, Enrique’s taste buds liked Liza’s pasta and sundubu-jigae (Korean stew) best.

Liza and Enrique savor each moment spent with the family at home, something they rarely get to accomplish prior to the quarantine period. Enrique realized that quality time with loved ones is often taken for granted.

But, of course, they also miss going out on romantic dates, watching movies together, and taking beach trips. “Nami-miss ko ‘yung amoy ni Quen ‘pag naghu-hug siya,” said Liza.

The reel and real-life couple had their first taste of new normal production via Star Magic’s “Love from Home” digital catalogue, a fundraising campaign that aims to feed hungry Filipino families in partnership with the ABS-CBN Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig.

The Star Margic artists were tasked to execute individual pictorials in the comfort of their own home. For Liza and Enrique, the idea was to create snapshots that give off cozy vibes.

Liza wanted to reinvent a 1990 Claudia Schiffer campaign advertisement but given their limited production skills, she had to ditch the concept for a more candid shoot. The results of Liza and Enrique’s team effort were stunning despite the series of untoward incidents that transpired on that day.

As Liza narrated, she burned her fingers with a curling iron while fixing her hair. Then, she stepped on a broken glass while shooting on the roof by the window. But thanks to Enrique’s positive attitude, Liza gathered her zeal back. They were relieved upon seeing the fruit of their efforts.

The duo could only hope for the best in the remaining months of 2020. Enrique reminded the viewers to keep on praying and following health protocols. Liza added, “I am looking forward na maka-bounce back lahat, the economy, and everyone suffering. I am looking forward to brighter days and I hope it would come soon.”
