Shanaia Gomez and Angela Ken have made their theater debut in the musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” which opened last February and will continue to run until March.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is an award-winning interactive Broadway production about middle schoolers competing for the spelling championship.
Borrowing the theme of their musical play, Kapamilya Chat dared them to a spelling challenge. But instead of competing against each other, they would take turns reciting one letter at a time until the word is completed.
The first word given was “resilience,” prompting Angela to playfully walk out of the studio. They almost succeeded if only Shanaia had not gotten confused halfway through. When tasked to spell "pangkatagalugan," Shanaia slipped up, as well as with the word "catastrophe." Chalking up her lapses to lack of sleep, she says, “I’ve been awake since six a.m.”
But, to everyone’s surprise, the two managed to successfully spell the seemingly tongue-twisting word "nakakapagpabagabag."
