The grandest contract signing event called Star Magic Black Pen Day happened on June 19. More than 40 artists signed their contracts under the said talent arm including seasoned actor John Arcilla.
The FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano star said he is excited to explore new avenues with the trusted network, ABS-CBN. “Malaki ang tiwala ko sa ABS-CBN. Naniniwala ako na marami kaming pagsasaluhan ng mga bagay para mas lalong ma-maximize ko pa ‘yung mga pwede kong gawin.”
John has been in the industry for decades and played a plethora of roles, some of them iconic, and this makes us curious if he still believes in bucket lists. Does he still have what he calls a ‘dream role?’
The Kapamilya actor was tapped to topbill the biopic “Heneral Luna” in 2015 and he also wishes to portray Juan Luna, for these two brothers have contrasting personalities. Antonio Luna is blazing like fire while Juan Luna’s temperament is comparable to the ocean that’s calm most of the time but can be as intense as the tidal wave.
And if he’s going to dream, he might as well dream big. John wishes to be the first Filipino actor to play antagonist in a major Hollywood flick. He believes Pinoy talent can soar globally.
He is likewise thankful to have worked with showbiz icons like Sharon Cuneta, Aga Muhlach, and Christopher de Leon, his co-star in an upcoming film. “Lahat ng mga taga-ABS-CBN ata na mga bata, naging anak ko na, pamangkin, so halos lahat nakasama ko na,” he said, laughing.
If there’s a chance, he also would like to work with the new gen of social media influencers and maybe learn from them as well.
John is happy and looking forward to his upcoming projects under the Kapamilya management, calling the contract signing just a formality since he’s been doing teleseryes under the network for more than three decades now.
