Make your day a little breezier with KD Estrada as he tackles his own compositions, as well as favorites from the world of pop and R&B in the “Song Association” Challenge.
Armed with his guitar, the cutie crooner must come up with songs that mention the given keyword within 10 seconds. The game would kick off from “mahal,” which made him think of “Mahal Ba Kita,” his original composition that’s included in the soundtrack of iWantTFC series “Bola Bola.” He’s also part of the digital series as Julian, one of Francine Diaz’s three leading men alongside PBB Kumunity Season 10 teen housemate Ashton Salvador and BGYO member Akira Morishita.
According to KD, he wrote “Mahal Ba Kita” before “Bola Bola” and for a specific person, ”This song still plays a big part sa year na ‘to ‘cause it’s part of Bola Bola and, ayun, parang I was just catching feelings na but I was just questioning it.” But now, “I don’t have to question anymore.”
Song writing not only proves KD’s musical genius but it also helps uncover his emotions. Although, there was a time he wasn’t this passionate about it, “I didn’t always want to write songs. I wanted to be a guitar player.” He used to struggle a lot with writer’s block. “Naaalala ko po dati, sa mga poetry sa English class sa school, hindi ako makasulat ng mga lines. Hindi po ako magaling sa mga words,” admitted KD, who’s also part of The Squad Plus.
He tried nonetheless and his earliest shot at songwriting ushered him to a Star Music audition. The rest, they say, is history.
Back to the game, KD played a number of tunes from foreign acts including Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” for the word “morning,” Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way you Are” for “beautiful,” and Keyshia Cole’s “Love” for the term “love.”
He serenaded us with his own tracks including “Dreams Don’t Wait,” which is part of the “Marry Me Marry You” soundtrack as well as “Sa Puso Mo.”
For the word “again,” he strummed and sang “When I See You Again” which he co-wrote with fellow PBB Kumunity Season 10 alum and love team partner Alexa Ilacad. On that particular collab, KD gives more credit to Alexa and fellow ex-housemate TJ Valderama, who helped in the chord progression.
