Gerald Anderson Evolution

Kapamilya hunk Gerald Anderson didn’t always set his sights on show business, but with his glittering and amazing evolution through the years as an artist, he is now one of the most bankable leading men in the entertainment industry.

From Amboy to rising Kapamilya star

It was way back in 2006 that people first met Gerald as the “Amboy Hottie of General Santos” in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 1. In Kuya’s house, many admired his casual and fun boy-next-door personality and later turned up as the season’s 3rd Big Placer. People also fell in love with the romantic chemistry that developed between him and the season's Big Winner Kim Chiu.

Leaving the PBB house, KimErald was a love team thousands adored. Gerald began exploring roles in acting alongside Kim Chiu. They appeared in drama anthologies Maalaala Mo Kaya and Your Song and both took on a major role in the popular 2006 comedy film “First Day High”.

KimErald proceeded to star in several successful films and shows. The romantic soap Sana Maulit Muli was their first teleserye together. While being a newbie actor, Gerald garnered “Best New TV Personality” from the PMPC Star Awards for Television in that show. Other notable film projects they had together were “I've Fallen For You”, “My Girl,” “Paano Na Kaya,” and “Till My Heartaches End.”

Exploring his path as an actor

While Gerald gained traction in the industry with his love team, he was still recognized as a talented actor on his own. He was offered roles in various shows that trained him to become a well-rounded actor.

In 2009, he played Lt. David "JR" D. Garcia in the primetime drama Tayong Dalawa  with Jake Cuenca. After his performance on the serye, he won Best Drama Actor award at the NSUU TV Awards. He was later cast in the romantic drama Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo where he worked with veteran stars Albert Martinez and Kris Aquino.

Gerald also bravely accepted complex roles such as the mentally challenged Budoy in the 2011 ABS-CBN series. It’s one of the most iconic roles he brought to life and led him to gather multiple recognitions from award-giving bodies.

By 2013, he landed the starring role in the Cannes Film Festival entry, “On The Job.” He received nominations and awards for his performance as Daniel, a prisoner who was temporarily freed to carry out a high-stakes mission.

Over the years, he also took on challenging characters on the teleseryes Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, Dyesebel, NathanielIkaw Lang Ang Iibigin, and A Soldier’s Heart

Primed as a top-billed leading man

Gerald remains to be a prime choice to play the lead role alongside talented actresses in the industry. He did two movies with Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo in “Catch Me I’m In Love” and “Won't Last A Day Without You.”

During the height of his and Kim’s career doing individual projects, they reunited on-screen once again and sparked kilig amongst KimErald fans in the movie “24/7 in Love.”

Proving his prowess in rom-coms, Gerald did numerous films with other actresses in the following years: “Always Be My Maybe” with Arci Muñoz, “How to Be Yours” with Bea Alonzo, “My Perfect You” with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, and “Between Maybes” with his now real-life sweetheart Julia Baretto.

Gerald’s recently completed project was in the passionate drama serye Init Sa Magdamag with Kapamilya stars Yam Concepcion and JM de Guzman. Viewers admired his performance as Dr. Tupe Salcedo, who was caught in a heated love triangle.
