As the daughter of two of OPM’s most celebrated singers, it is hardly surprising that Jayda Avanzado is slowly becoming a household name in the music scene. In fact, she is taking her singing career to the next level by collaborating with an international artist, Ren Mikko, who hails from Indonesia. She was also chosen as the front act performer in Niall Horan's Manila concert in 2018. The daughter of Philippines' Phenomenal Diva Jessa Zaragoza and Prince of Original "Pinoy Pop" Dingdong Avanzado says she is honored with the privilege of working with singers from other countries.
Jayda also takes pride in her original songs which already garnered million streams on Spotify. She even co-directed and produced her latest music video MU (Malabong Usapan).
She started writing songs at a very young age. One of her songs which talks about unrequited love was written when she was just thirteen. When asked on TWBA about the inspiration behind “Happy For You”, Jayda says she simply wanted to compose a piece which the Pinoy listeners could relate to. She sees the Filipino audiences as lovers of stories with bittersweet endings.
Now at eighteen, Jayda has already grown accustomed to her parents’ individual musical styles. In her Metro Chats interview, Jayda mentioned that she calls her Dad her very own Simon Cowell as she considered Dingdong as a tough mentor and a great motivator. While she knows Jessa and Dingdong have different sounds, Jayda appreciates her Dad’s songwriting skills while she obviously imbibed her mother’s vocal range. Therefore, it is safe to say that Jayda is a combination of Dingdong and Jessa’s best traits.
Jayda is set to hold her biggest solo show to date called Jayda in Concert—a joint production of ABS-CBN Events and Phenomenal Entertainment, and will be directed by Frank Mamaril together with Iean Iñigo as the musical director. It will be available for streaming online on June 26 via KTX.ph.
