Last held in 2019, the Star Magic Games, Star Magic’s much awaited annual sports event for their talents, made a grand comeback as it returned to the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City last May 22. It was a whole day of fun and sports which included badminton, volleyball, and basketball this year.
Starting off the day with a parade of players, actress Aya Fernandez said the opening prayer while Daniel Padilla led the oath of sportsmanship. The 2 Good 2 Be True star won the Men’s Doubles Badminton event along with partner Neil Coleta.
In the first basketball event, Star Hunt won both of their games while in the women’s volleyball event, the Star Magic team won. Seen cheering on the sidelines was Daniel Padilla who was rooting for his younger sister Carmella Ford and his cousin Analain Salvador who was also captain of the Star Magic team.
In the main basketball event, Team Showtime, which was composed of players Vhong Navarro, Teddy Corpuz, Ion Perez, Ogie Alcasid, Nyoy Volante, Ryan Bang, Eric “Eruption” Tai, Zeus Collins, Wilbert Ross, and Vitto Marquez, won over Team Star Magic which was led by Ronnie Alonte and included players like Donny Pangilinan, RK Bagatsing, Paulo Gumabao, Joao Constancia, Miko Raval, and Elmo Magalona.
Adding more fun to the event were the hilarious antics of the Showtime crew starting from their hilarious individual entrances to their plays on the court. Later in the game, Hashtags member Zeus Collins surprised the crowd when he faked an injury and proposed to his non-showbiz girlfriend Pauline Redondo on the court in the middle of the fourth quarter.
Also seen at the event cheering and showing support for their fellow Star Magic talents were Belle Mariano, Loisa Andalio, Alexa Ilacad, Joshua Garcia, and Jeremiah Lisbo.
