From the time the Star Magic Ball began in 2007 to its most recent incarnation in 2017, it is quite noteworthy that there are those who faithfully attend the event each year. And, it is quite interesting to note that those who achieved “perfect attendance” were the fashionable and gorgeous women who had always astonished us with their look and style at the Ball each year.
Here are the stunning ladies who were never absent in all eleven editions of the Star Magic Ball.
Kim Chiu
More than a year after her big win in the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 1, four months after the successful run of her first-ever teleserye Sana Maulit Muli, and a month before the showing of her movie debut “I’ve Fallen For You,” Kim Chiu was indeed a picture of sheer bliss and youth in her ruffled and patterned pink floor-length Frederick Peralta frock in the first Star Magic Ball in 2007.
She went to the Ball on its early years with her first love team partner and ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson. They were hailed the “Unbeatable Tandem Award” in 2008, “Couple of the Night” in 2009 alongside former couple Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion, and “Best Dressed Couple” in 2010.
In 2011, the Chinita Princess bagged the Drop Dead Gorgeous Award for her classy sexiness while wearing the immaculate white mermaid gown creation of Francis Libiran.
Despite the break-up of KimErald, she was able to snag her second and third “Couple of the Night” in 2012 and 2014 and the Fabulous Pair accolade in 2013 through her new leading man and date Xian Lim.
We were able to see a bolder yet still dainty Kim in 2014 when she wore a nude and black embroidered gown made by Patricia Santos, and in 2016 when she chose a black cape gown with intricate laser cut details and crystal superfluities.
Last year, Kim gave us a sophisticated, royal look. The Chinita Princess donned a laced, long sleeved V-line ball gown. It had silver embroideries and glittery details all over, which she matched perfectly with a pair of ornamental earrings.
Bea Alonzo
We not only looked forward to her films and teleseryes, but also her yearly appearances at the annual gala.
With her incessantly blooming career since her debut in 2002, the first Star Magic Ball was indeed a triple celebration for Bea Alonzo for it was in 2007 when two of her most notable and tremendously loved projects were released – “One More Chance” and Maging Sino Ka Man. We’re assuming that these could be the reason why Rajo Laurel designed her dress that way.
Bea has been a perennial candidate for Best Dressed in most fashion blogs and websites and a recipient of the event’s special recognitions. She was hailed as the Best Dressed Female opposite her Dreamboy love interest Piolo Pascual in 2008, Most Fabulous Star in 2009, Most Stylish Stars and Moet and Chandon Award in 2010 and 2011 (respectively) alongside her ex-beau Zanjoe Marudo, and the Jaw-Dropping Stunner of the Night in 2012 for her feathery Rajo Laurel ball gown.
Bea’s divine beauty was emphasized in her gold-encrusted Ezra Couture cream ensemble, while her takes on the Old Hollywood glam were indeed scene-stealers.
She and Zanjoe looked good in their twinning outfits in their last parade together in 2015, as she opted to go low-key in her Alexander McQueen white dress with black ribbon neckline, matching his classic suit and bowtie.
Her 2016 look seemed to be a fusion yet improved version of her previous looks. Her asymmetrical metallic Tom Ford black gown showed the fashion forward in her, while her minimalist side was shown through her barely-there makeup and hair styled down.
At the previous ball, Bea’s look was not so daring yet overwhelmingly exquisite. She captivated us in her haltered, white long gown. Simple as it is, her gown still showed off her gorgeous curves. Also, she still bared some skin with her low bun updo revealing the backless detail of her gown.
Erich Gonzales
From her preppy look in the early years, Erich has gradually grown into a sophisticated young woman as seen in her Star Magic Ball appearances through the years.
She chose to wear classic white numbers from 2007 to 2009. As she finally got her breakthrough project through the soap opera Katorse, the actress apparently went fiercer and more daring as she sashayed in her ruffled black ball gown in 2010. That was also the same year when she and her recurring leading man Enchong Dee were given the Cinema’s Most Romantic Couple.
The Maria la del Barrio star seemed to personify her role in the well-loved drama as she incredibly looked like a queen in her red ball gown, minus the wooden crown. She dared to go sexier in the next editions of the lavish gathering with her see-through tulle black gown in 2012, sparkling keyhole number in 2013, and sequined form-fitting ensemble with sweetheart neckline in 2014.
For the ninth and 10th stagings, Erich was indeed a refined princess in her clean, regal, and timeless look while clad in the patterned nude Francis Libiran masterpiece and immaculate white off-shoulder number made by Pepsi Herrera.
Erich shimmered with glam at the 2017 ball wearing a nude, V-line long dress which was fully sequined and had feathery details at the bottom. She didn’t mind baring a lot of skin and showing off more of her curves this time. This was by far the sexiest, most daring of all her looks at the annual event.
Maja Salvador
Now known as the vengeful and pokerface Ivy Aguas in the primetime series Wildflower, her appearances in the early editions of the Star Magic Ball was absolutely different.
From the timid rising star then who graced the red carpet in classic black frock in 2007 up to 2009, she became bolder in her black and white ensemble featuring a low-cut V-neck bodice and intricately styled tulle skirt in 2010. Her obsession for ruffled tulle skirts extended to the next two editions until she decided to go with curve-flaunting Cary Santiago masterpiece with intricate laser-cut design that gained her the Best Dressed Female in 2013 opposite ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson.
In an event filled with fabulous woman who dared to bare more skin, the Dance Princess opted for a white long-sleeved dress with a glittery lace peek-a-boo on the chest part in 2014. Of course, she also didn’t wish to be excluded in the battle of the ‘trains’ in the 10th staging with her pleated and asymmetrical train that could also span sideways.
She went back to donning black in 2016 and opted a more relaxed yet fashionable outfit by wearing a Chanel slip dress delicately tied at the back.
A year after, Maja stunned us again with a sleek and elegant style. She wore a V-line, embroidered and caped black long gown, which was sparkling all over. She was completely classy at the ball last year, matching her gown with a neatly done low bun updo and a pair of diamond earrings.
From their fresh out of the prom looks in the early stages of the Star Magic Ball, we’ve seen how fashion evolved through the years as these equally beautiful and talented sought-after leading ladies turned into sophisticated and audacious woman and fashion purveyors as time went by.
As such, we eagerly anticipate how Kim, Bea, Erich and Maja would again push the boundaries of style as they stretch their “perfect attendance” record in this year’s glitzy celebrity event, ABS-CBN Ball 2018, which is for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163 Children’s Village.
