Back in the early 2000s, the Kapamilya all-male group known as The Hunks electrified our TV viewing. Composed of the then budding actors Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Deither Ocampo, Carlos Agassi and Bernard Palanca, The Hunks charmed the ladies with their good looks and great toned bodies. They regularly guested in Kapamilya TV programs like ASAP, had concert tours abroad, and even had their own sitcom entitled “Bora: Sons of the Beach.”
Fast forward to 2016, the members of The Hunks are now already recognized names in the show business.
Award-winning actor Piolo Pascual recently starred in the 8-hour long historical fantasy drama film “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” by Lav Diaz which won Silver Bear: Alfred Bauer Price in the 2016 Berlin Film Festival. The actor has also just finished a movie with Dawn Zulueta and Coleen Garcia entitled “Love Me Tomorrow” last May that earned P13M on its opening day alone.
Meanwhile, Jericho Rosales, who is also an award-winning actor both here and abroad, has carved a name in the international scene through his TV series “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” and “Bridges of Love” which became popular in different parts of the world. He is set to star in the new Kapamilya teleserye Never Ever Say Goodbye with Arci Muñoz and John Estrada.
Another Kapamilya teleserye favorite, Diether Ocampo, is supposed to make a comeback alongside Judy Ann Santos and Richard Yap in “Someone to Watch over Me.” He recently appeared in the “TrabaHula Level Up” segment of the hit noontime show It’s Showtime.
Carlos Agassi, on the other hand, is one of the hosts of the entrepreneurial show “Swak na Swak” on ABS-CBN. Carlos also guested on the June 18 episode of Family Feud together with fellow The Hunks member Bernard Palanca.
Speaking of Bernard, the actor took a break from his usual kontrabida roles and this time played the loving husband to Cathy (Vina Morales) and father to Sam (Janella Salvador) in the newest Kapamilya teleserye Born for You. He played an important part in the TV series since his character Buddy composed the song “Born for You” for his wife but ended up dying because of it.
But enough with their recent accomplishments, let’s all go down memory lane instead and feast our eyes on some throwback pictures of the sizzling group The Hunks.
