Angelica Panganiban was among the stars who started really young in the business. To date, she’s been in the business for 25 years. Like Jericho, Angelica was also scouted in a pageant, a children’s pageant at that. That moment marked the beginning of her venture into the business. But not too many know that her debut in the network did not come easy. In fact she has been turned down for a number of times while auditioning for AngTV. But who is Angelica? Angge, as her close frineds call her, recalls that she hates attention. She also dislikes dressing up and she’s not into singing, dancing and even crying. Her hard work and perseverance in auditioning for AngTV eventually paid off as she became part of the show in 1995. Ange described her stint on the show as an “abanger” because used to wait at the studio, along with other kids, for the show’s staff to choose them to be part of that week’s segment. Even so, Angelica didn’t consider herself as someone who’s made for comedy. While she’s been part of the iconic film Sarah: Ang Munting Prinsesa as Becky, Angelica didn’t consider herself as a legitimate star. In fact, Angelica only felt that she made it into the business when she landed her film together with Camille titled “Ang Pulubi at Ang Prinsesa. After a few years, Angelica approached teenage years. But the transition didn’t come easy as she entered the so-called awkward stage. But this “phase” didn’t stop Angge from landing good projects as a teen star. Angelica’s stint on teen-oriented show eventually found her onscreen-turned-off screen partner Carlo Aquino. The couple have been together for six years before parting ways in 2006. The reason for their breakup? If there’s one thing that many teen stars had a hard time doing, it would have to be crossing from being a teen star into a serious actress. Angelica herself, admits that she had to go through the dilemma like many other child stars of her batch. Thankfully though, Angelica was offered the movie “Santa Santita,” which eventually turned the spotlight on her. That movie categorized Angelica as a mature actress.
