In his more than a decade in the local entertainment industry, we’ve seen how Joem Bascon has grown as an actor through the various roles he took on. From that budding newcomer in the weekly teen-oriented sitcom Let’s Go released in 2006, he then went on to portray more significant and more mature roles through the years that truly unleashed his impressive acting chops, such as his current stint in the well-loved primetime series Starla.
Playing the role of main antagonist Attorney Dexter Soliman, the actor has been doing a great job in astounding us with his performance as the obedient right-hand-turned-ruthless and wicked villain, whose sole mission is to kick the residents of Barrio Maulap out of their home and to get rid of those people who tried to get in his way.
As we fervently await the very last yet greatest wish that Starla will grant on the kid serye’s upcoming finale, prepare your hearts to be enraged anew as we revisit those moments when he turned into an infuriating villain through this Kapamilya Toplist.
Fueled by his ambition to be recognized by his biological father Atty. Robert Salazar (Tirso Cruz III) and to impress his immediate superior Atty. Teresa Dichaves (Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo), he obediently heeded to every single thing they told him to do, regardless if it’s going to inflict chaos and harm to others.
From being a loyal follower of Tere, he turned out to be her and the whole Barrio Maulap’s cunning and merciless nemesis, after she had a change of heart and eventually decided to protect and defend her townsfolks.
Making everyone in the barrio believe that their place was being doomed so that they would be compelled to sell their lands to them, he led the botching of their sources of living. However, a slew of miracles occurred thanks to Buboy (Enzo Pelojero) and Starla, making his efforts go to waste.
Since he was having a hard time in completing his mission, he’d gone desperate and did the unimaginable – contaminating the water supply of Barrio Maulap which ensued to the typhoid fever outbreak that affected most of the residents. And to make matters worse, he even ordered the ambush of Doc Philip (Raymart Santiago) and Kapitan Domeng (Simon Ibarra) in pursuit of hindering the transportation of medicines and getting rid of the barrio’s leader.
Despite the temporary restraining order (TRO) they filed to stop the demolition order of the houses and other structures in the barrio, Dexter was still able to find a way for it to be cancelled and for their project to continue. He forcefully drove the people out of their residences and lands with the help of his henchmen and refused to listen to their pleas.
In his attempt to topple Tere down by alleging her of murdering Robert, to which he’s the real culprit after he unintentionally killed him by strangling and hitting his head to a hard object during one of their altercations, he made it to a point that the hearing of the case of her father Mang Greggy (Joel Torre), Doc Philip, and Domeng would be slated on the same time as hers.
But among his wicked deeds, it would be randomly killing animals that’s the most gruesome as he did this to somehow appease himself everytime he’s tense or mad. And recently, he appalled us with his transformation into an elderly man in order to catch the attention of the sympathetic Buboy and find out his secret.
As Starla.approaches its exciting conclusion, is there still a chance for Dexter to change and repent for all his wrongdoings? Well, that’s for us to find out so you better not miss it!
