Viewers of the well-loved series Starla are probably engrossed with the cuteness of Buboy (Enzo Pelojero) and Starla (Jana Agoncillo), the heartbreaking and heartwarming happenings in Barrio Maulap, and the kilig love-hate relationship of Doc Philip (Raymart Santiago) and Attorney Teresa (Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo). But we also have also found ourselves amused with Philip’s trustworthy sidekick Barangay Captain Domeng (Simon Ibarra).
Apparently, this is among the most remarkable portrayals of character actor Simon Ibarra, as the personality of his current character is truly far from the dramatic and action roles he took on both on television and film throughout his fruitful two decades in the local entertainment scene. From usually spreading terror or making us cry in his previous appearances, the veteran thespian has been sending good vibes to our homes as the chatty and funny Domeng, who’s usually seen in a red vest that he puts on over a plain-colored shirt bearing his face and his title “Kapitan Domeng”.
As Starla approaches its exciting finale this week, let’s revisit the times when he proved that he’s indeed the ever-reliable friend of Philip via this Kapamilya Toplist!
Domeng and Philip have been the best of friends since their younger years. Thus, they’re able to establish a strong and admirable bond between them and totally know each other inside and out. Having witnessed how his friend got truly smitten with Teresa when they were still in high school and eventually got heartbroken when she left, Domeng couldn’t help but be thrilled upon finding out that she’s back in Barrio Maulap. Since then, he relentlessly twitted Philip to Teresa and even volunteered to help him in courting her.
He might be silly, talkative, and seem to not take things seriously, not to mention being gullible sometimes, but Domeng is still worth admiring for. He’s definitely the friend you would want to have in your life for he’s very supportive, ever-reliable, loyal, genuine, and fun-to-be-with – you would always want his company. Besides, he’s also always willing to come into Philip’s rescue whenever he’s in trouble or danger and to lend his ears and give Philip advice in times that he’s boggled or anxious.
Aside from that, Domeng is a benevolent and dependable leader of their barrio as well, earning the appreciation and love of his townsfolks in Barrio Maulap
Now that Starla is coming to an end this week, we will surely miss Domeng and his shenanigans!
