In the first few days of Starla, we witnessed how the kind acts of the charming little boy named Buboy (Enzo Pelojero) helped put a smile on the grumpy face of Mang Greggy (Joel Torre). Even though Mang Greggy tried to hide his feelings, it was clear how delighted he is now that he has Buboy by his side.
After his parents died from a car crash, Buboy struggled to live alone. Staying at an orphanage for a year, Buboy was treated unfairly and no one gave him the proper care he needed. One night, when he had enough of the bullying he’s experiencing at the orphanage and the unfair treatment the guardian in the said facility gave him, Buboy escaped by hiding inside a fruit delivery truck. He got caught by the driver when the said vehicle stopped at Barrio Maulap. With nowhere to run to, he found himself at Mang Greggy’s garage and decided to stay there for the night.
Being used to living alone, Mang Greggy is an ill-tempered man who found it hard to trust other people. He withheld himself from being emotional and liked to keep himself away from all the other people at the barrio. He didn’t like being bothered by others and didn’t want to owe something from other people. Therefore, when he saw Buboy at his garage, he immediately accused the little boy of being a thief.
Despite his accusations, Mang Greggy believed that Buboy is a kind-hearted boy. After chasing each other, Buboy helped Mang Greggy when the old man’s rheumatism attacked. Hearing about the boy’s heartbreaking story, his heart opened for Buboy despite him trying to hide it. After having some push and pull moments with the little boy, Mang Greggy finally decided to adopt Buboy and be his foster father.
Now that Buboy is always by his side to remind him of how good he can be, what big changes will take place in Mang Greggy’s life? Find out in the upcoming episodes of Starla, weeknights after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
