Starla might have been on-air for only three months, yet it didn’t fall short in delivering a totally refreshing narrative, heartwarming and heartbreaking scenes, and compelling performances from its stellar ensemble. But aside from these, what brought the primetime series closer to our hearts are the valuable lessons it inculcated to us through its characters and the circumstances they had faced.
As we bid farewell to the ‘kid serye’ that consistently brightened up our weeknights, painted a smile onto our faces, and tugged our heartstrings, let’s take a look back on five of the most notable life morals it has instilled to us via this Friday 5 feature!
Selflessness
In the continuously evolving world, this is arguably among the values that many believe has gone rare. But Mang Greggy (Joel Torre) proved that it still exists as he always makes himself available whenever there are people who need help and even tried to hinder his corrupt colleagues from their misdeeds, which often got him involved in altercations.
This made his beloved family worried about him, so they tried to remind him in the possible repercussions of his being “too kind” and “over-meddling”, to which he retorted saying that the kindness he brandished would comeback to them someday when they needed it. His compassion for others makes him the ultimate role model or “idol” of his unica hija Teresa (Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo).
Faith
As Barrio Maulap got devastated by a slew of unfortunate events, the townsfolks have inevitably become disheartened and hopeless that they would be able to overcome. But their community priest Father Tomas (Gabe Mercado) reminded them that in the midst of darkness, light is surely waiting for them in the end – they only have to believe and put their faith on God.
The same went for Starla’s (Jana Agoncillo) fellow young little stars who were slowly getting losing their faith that she would be able to accomplish her mission amid the number of bad wishes she already granted. However, Lola Tala (Ms. Charo Santos-Concio) told them how much she still trusted Starla, so they should be too.
Generosity
Even though the people of Barrio Maulap didn’t have that much money to aid Mang Ruben’s family with his medical expenses, everyone was still able to find their own ways to help. Just like the adorable Tonton (Alex Baena) who gave all his earnings from working in the market and Sylvester (Jimmy Marquez) who closed his beauty salon for a day to give free haircut to his folks in exchange of donating any amount to their coin bank for Mang Ruben.
They only attested that being less fortunate should never be a hindrance for us to extend our help to others who are in need because there’s definitely no small or huge amount as long as it came from the heart.
Compassion
As what we’ve mentioned, the people of Barrio Maulap are not well-off, yet they’re still willing to extend their hands to their folks who are in trouble in their own simple ways – may it be monetary or acts of service. They never let anyone from them be left behind as they confront each other’s struggles hand-in-hand and with a smile on their faces and their hearts. After all, no man is an island, right?
Forgiveness
Being a lawyer, it’s really unlikely for Teresa to own up to her mistakes and apologize since she’s expected to firmly stand to what she believes in is right. Thus, it was really tear-jerking when we saw her vulnerable side as she humbly apologized to Buboy (Enzo Pelojero) over their misunderstanding. At the same time, the young boy also tugged our hearts with how he tearfully said sorry to his Ate Teresa for his rude actions towards her.
We hope that even though Starla’s going to conclude, the lessons it inculcated to us will forever remain in our minds and hearts.
