Seeing your favorite online novel characters come to life is probably one of the most thrilling things for an avid reader. There's nothing like the feeling of finally seeing our favorite characters on screen, after years of them existing only in our beloved e-books and our imaginations.
Below are some of the famous e-novels that Star Cinema and Black Sheep had the opportunity to bring to life for their loyal fans!
‘She's Dating the Gangster’
Written by Bianca Bernardino (SGwannaB)
We couldn't imagine a more perfect love team to play Athena and Kenji than Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in "She's Dating the Gangster". From nailing the '90s theme to breathing life into some of the most iconic scenes from the e-novel, everything was just as we imagined it to be (and even better!).
‘Just the Way You Are’
Written by Kimberly Joy Villanueva (ilurvbooks)
Based on the e-novel "The Bet", Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil had the chance to play the nerdy Sophia and campus heartthrob Drake in the movie adaptation entitled "Just The Way You Are". Despite their characters’ initial friction, Liza and Enrique's convincing portrayals sure made us root for them from start to finish!
‘Bloody Crayons’
Written by Josh Argonza
Romance isn't the only genre Star Cinema explored in adapting e-novels. It also picked up the suspense-thriller book ‘Bloody Crayons’ which featured an ensemble cast including Janella Salvador, Jane Oineza, Maris Racal, Ronnie Alonte, Sofia Andres, Diego Loyzaga, Yves Flores, Empoy Marquez, and Elmo Magalona. Truly, the adaptation is just as exciting as the book, putting us on the edge of our seats, as we figure out who the killer among the barkada is!
‘The Four Bad Boys and Me’
Written by Tina Lata (blue_maiden)
Star Cinema had a different take when it adapted "The Four Bad Boys and Me" into a podcast series. Although the cast — led by Kaori Oinuma as Candice, and Rhys Miguel, Jeremiah Lisbo, Mark Rivera, and Aljon Mendoza as the four bad boys — played their characters virtually, we felt the same intense kilig we had while reading the e-novel!
‘He's Into Her’
Written by Maxine Lat (Maxinejiji)
It was truly worth the wait for this popular e-novel's adaptation into a full series, as Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano gave us everything we imagined and more, when they portrayed Deib and Max in the show! The breakthrough success of the series also commanded a second season that made us fall for their characters all over again!
‘Teen Clash’
Written by Ilyn Danganan (iDangs)
Joining the list of e-novels-turned-series is "Teen Clash", which will be given life by Jayda Avanzado as Zoe and Aljon Mendoza as Ice. While we have yet to see the series, the trailer already speaks of how Jayda and Aljon give off the same maangas yet passionate vibes of Zoe and Ice, traits that we’ve loved from these online novel characters from the start!
Which of these screen adaptations is from your favorite e-novel? Star Cinema is as huge a fan of online novels as you!
