WATCH: 30 women in Star Cinema films who symbolize strength!

Strength can be interpreted in a multitude of ways: through drive, influence, competence, money, style, eloquence, uniqueness... the list goes on! But if we have to choose only one common denominator that all strong women possess, it’s the fact that they own each of their personal journeys and wield undeniable impact, whether in society at large or their own relationships. Make way for 30 women in Star Cinema movies who are strong in their own right, as we continue our celebration of Star Cinema’s 30th anniversary!

Do you know a kind of woman who doesn’t back down from a fight and isn’t afraid to go gritty for the sake of justice? Then she would likely resonate with intuitive psychologist Amanda (Gretchen Barretto) in “The Trial”; wronged wife April (Agot Isidro) in “April, May, June”; and bullied homegirl Joey (Judy Ann Santos) in “Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko”.

Speaking of fights, of course we have to give a special shout-out to superheroes Kweenie (Pia Wurtzbach) in “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad” and Volta (Ai Ai delas Alas) in “Volta”, as well as to agents Aw (Arci Muñoz), Em (Coleen Garcia), and Gee (Jessy Mendiola) in “Extra Service”.

Best believe a woman doesn’t need actual powers to make jaws drop — a true woman of strength only needs to look within herself. If she has what it takes to survive overseas against all odds like Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) in “Hello, Love, Goodbye”; the strong will to stand up to a mistress like Anne (Angelica Panganiban) in “The Unmarried Wife”; or the perseverance to hustle for her family like Pura (Melai Cantiveros) in “The Adventures of Pureza: Queen of the Riles”, then no force is strong enough to bring her down.

If you want to check out powerful speeches by women who are oozing with confidence and conviction, we highly recommend watching Patty’s (Iza Calzado) confrontation speech about unconditional love in “Starting Over Again”, Bobbie’s (Bea Alonzo) moving confession in “Four Sisters and a Wedding”, and Amanda’s (Vilma Santos) compelling statements in “Dekada '70”.
