When it comes to versatility on screen, Jodi Sta. Maria's name will always be on top of our list. Not only can she portray and embody any character, no matter what genre, she can also make them distinct from one another.
Take her 2017 romance-comedy film "Dear Other Self" for instance, where she played Becky, a woman who finds herself exploring two different paths, of where she is now and where she could be.
In one of her scenes from the movie, she struggles to deliver her presentation in English before a client, so she decides to speak in Tagalog. This does not impress the panel, and the client ends up having a bad impression of her.
On the other hand, in her upcoming rom-com "Labyu With An Accent" alongside Coco Martin, Jodi will soon portray a character bearing a sharp contrast to her “Dear Other Self” character.
This official entry to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival sees Jodi play Tricia, a woman who has been living in the United States for 20 years.
In “Labyu With An Accent”, Jodi will be the one offered with a "business proposal" by Gabo (Coco) — to become his ultimate jowa for three days and two nights!
That's just one of the many exciting things that you will witness in this film, directed by Coco himself. The movie will mark Star Cinema’s grand back-to-back return to the Metro Manila Film Festival, along with the Cathy Garcia-Molina comedy flick “Partners In Crime” top-billed by Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi.
Both movies are set to premiere in cinemas on Dec. 25!
