Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia lit up the premiere night of their latest romance film, “Un/Happy For You”, held at SM Megamall on August 13.
The event marked a highly anticipated reunion for the actors, making it their first red carpet appearance together in over four years. The last time this dynamic duo graced such an event as a tandem was for their 2020 zombie thriller movie, “Block Z”.
The atmosphere was electric as Julia stunned the crowd in a breathtaking asymmetrical red gown that perfectly showcased her toned figure.
Joshua complemented her effortlessly, greeting their devoted fans with a warm smile while donning a custom black suit adorned with red accents, including an embossed chili design at the nape — a clever nod to the chili elements featured in the film.
The pair’s coordinated outfits, infused with bold red and black hues, certainly wowed the crowds.
Director Petersen Vargas, who walked alongside Joshua and Julia, dressed in a trendy oversized gray suit and matching trousers. Following closely ahead were the film’s talented supporting cast members, including Aljon Mendoza, Kaila Estrada, Ketchup Eusebio, Bong Gonzales, Bianca De Vera, John “Sweet” Lapus, Meann Espinosa, and Victor Silayan. Veteran actor Nonie Buencamino, who portrayed Joshua’s father figure in the movie, was unable to attend but was present in spirit with the rest of the cast throughout the night.
As the cast made their way down the red carpet, Gello Marquez serenaded the crowd with a heartfelt rendition of Moira dela Torre’s “Paubaya”, the film’s official song.
Julia’s family, including her mother, actress Marjorie Barretto, and her sister Dani Barretto-Panlilio, were there to show their unwavering support, beaming with pride as they watched Julia and Joshua shine. The premiere night also attracted an array of celebrities, including JC Alcantara, Nikki Valdez, Arci Muñoz, Eli Padilla, and Sofia Andres, who all gathered to support the film. Star Cinema head and managing director Kriz Gazmen, as well as Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi, were also spotted.
Penned by Kookai Labayen, Crystal San Miguel, and Jen Chuaunsu, “Un/Happy For You” follows the story of Juancho (Joshua) who plans to get even with his ex-girlfriend Zy (Julia Barretto) after their messy breakup two years earlier. However, when old feelings start to resurface, their reunion is shaken by an unexpected revelation.
Now showing in over 200 cinemas nationwide, “Un/Happy For You” promises a rollercoaster of emotions, blending romance, drama, and a twist that viewers won’t see coming. Don’t miss out on the chance to see Joshua and Julia back on the big screen together, in this must-watch film!
